Hello ArenaNet,
Just purchased this game 2 days ago and I was loving it the first night I played it. Had no connection issues and played fine even on my MacBook Pro, a system obviously not made for gaming. I’m happy with the quality of your Mac beta client, even though clearly it gets less attention and support than the Windows client. Unfortunate, but also realistic; I’m sure there are a lot less OS X users playing GW2.
As soon as yesterday came around, I had nonstop issues trying to even log in to GW2. Constantly getting error messages (the error codes are posted everywhere around this forum, everyone is getting the same ones) telling me to reset my router or change my firewall settings. I know that’s not it because this is NOT an isolated issue. If I can manage to log in to the game and get to the character selection screen (about 1 out of 4 tries) then I’ll get another error as soon as I try to select a character, telling me to do the same thing as above.
I’ve been watching the forums closely and there have been at least 10 threads about this issue, and you guys have done nothing to address it. This is an MMO. Playing the game relies on the fact that I can get online. As far as I’m concerned, I just spent $50 on a game that I can’t even log in to. If I can manage to log in, I get about 3 or 4 minutes of fun before I’ll get disconnected.
The only support that I’ve seen from ArenaNet is merging threads and moving them into General GW2 discussion. No updates about what could be causing the issue, nothing. It’s not like this is a new game, it’s almost a year old. This shouldn’t be an issue lasting longer than a few hours at most.
League of Legends is a FREE game and I’ve had no issues like this. I’ve gotten more tech support from random other people having the same issues on this forum than from your own tech support team. I understand problems arise, especially in a huge online game like GW2, but this is just pathetic. I was loving this game until these constant disconnections started happening, and your lack of updates regarding this situation has made me lose a lot of respect for ArenaNet as a company.
I’d be perfectly fine if we were at least told what the reason behind these issues was, or that they were being worked on, but I’ve heard nothing. When you’re running an MMO, it’s not smart to leave your players in the dark.
tl;dr I’m angry at ArenaNet because I’ve been having the same disconnection/login issues as everyone else but we’re not getting any updates about what’s going on.

Also having the same issue, I thought at first it was because I didn’t have my ports forwarded but even after using the DMZ it didn’t work so it’s not the ports. I just started playing this game 2 days ago and both days I either haven’t been able to log in for a while at a time, or if I do get in, then I’ll get booted every time I try to go to a waypoint or enter an instance.
I’ve been keeping a close eye on the forums and clearly I’m not the only person who has this issue, but ArenaNet has left everyone in the dark. Telling me to fix my firewall or unplug my router isn’t going to make the problem better, because there’s nothing wrong with it.
Extremely disappointed in ArenaNet. I didn’t pay $50 for a game that I can’t even log in to or play for longer than 5 minutes.
