Having the same problems, playing from Aus ISP is Iprimus. I’ve been having this issue from launch, thought it was just a population thing but even in dead zones where there’s only like <20 people I lag out. I don’t get any time to attempt to play outside peek hours so I cant say if that’s the main cause but seriously, how in 2012 did they think Oceanic players would be okay with lag spikes and other issues. Even the nbn won’t help, you can’t brute force your connection when the server can’t handle it.
If any MMO comes out from now and doesn’t have an oceanic server I’m not even touching it, sick of devs making a good game and then hiring idiots to design their net code and server tech. Hell I’ve played indie games that run better than GW2 with twice the numbers, Even private servers of games I’ve had better luck with. Hell I’d settle for them to pay for a proxy sub for me. Game is unplayable without one and I refuse to have to pay a sub fee to play a free to play game.
Having the same problems as mixmasta only it happens to ALL my characters, I’ve tried making new characters and playing ones I made on day 1 They all have the same problem, If I’m fine for the fist 5 minutes of the zone I’m in I’m perfectly fine, but as soon as i zone out I run the risk of lagging out again.
so since launch I have had connection issues. Basically I will be stuck at loading screens (if I have literally left it for 3 hours while I went out and it never connects to the map, I came back and its still on the loading screen) and when I do finally get in half a second later I lag out, I have to dodge roll 5 times for it to log me out with an error then immediately hit play again and do this over and over just to move and in combat I get to use 1 ability then have to go to menu and back to character select screen then hit play again, hope I haven’t died to the mob and use another ability and then do the same thing over and over.
Is there any way of fixing this yet? What I’m mainly looking for is a different routing path to your servers as I seem to bounce between some pretty kitten servers that should not even exist.
I also refuse to pay for a proxy service for 1 game (no other games lag this bad even when there servers are hosted in Texas as well.) Hell even warhammer online had less latency related issues and it was hosted in Texas as well, Could play 100v100 with a smooth 150 ping yet in GW2 if I’m in an empty zone by myself I lag out 1 second after loading in.
Also I have been monitoring my resource monitor and I have around 4-5 connections to different GW2 servers. If any one of them start lagging some services in game will be basically disabled I have been able to play fine yet I cannot use chat or party features and after re-logging vice-versa, can’t move or use abilities but chat and party functionality is fine. I will always get “unable to contact the log in server” issues when this happens.

Hi, since launch the game has been lagging out and disconnecting, the weird part is it only happens between 7:30 PM and 10 PM AEST I have contacted customer support about this but they are quite frankly useless, the got me to do the whole round table stuff they usually do, ping our servers that have pinging blocked! using 3 different ways (normal cmd ping/tracert. Their game advisor and a 3rd party program called ping plotter) after running all 3 of these and not showing any problems other than the pinging stopping half way through the 64.25 network they asked me to run the same things again, at which point i stopped bothering.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any issues resorting to this random lag. my ISP says everything is fine. As far as I can tell its not a routing issue because the tracert shows the same servers to connect to the game’s servers whenever I try, my virus protection isn’t blocking anything and i have even un installed it briefly to test if it was and it’s not my modem because i have tried 3 different types from 3 different companies to no avail.
Also the main zones i get affected in are Lions Arch and Fireheart Rise (back when cof was farmed resulting in a mass of people)
