Well said. It’s amazing people are actually defending literal false advertising.
What I find amazing is that some people actively argue against those of us who have a problem with this implementation, when there’s absolutely no gain to be had for them. They’re arguing for the sake of arguing in an issue that obviously has a great negative impact for at least some of us, which is behavior I find appalling.
As for literal false advertising, I’m not sure I’d go that far. However, what I will say is that ArenaNet did this:
1) At the very least, very strongly implied that EU and US accounts would be able to guest with each other.
2) Did absolutely nothing to discourage that way of thinking for the months that we’ve been live and in beta. If this was the plan all along, which I strongly doubt, they could’ve said something before the game was released.
I’m not sure which I find worse, really. This isn’t what I would’ve expected from ArenaNet at all.
I definitely agree. ANet didn’t seem to care to keep us in the loop about the “exceptions” of world transfers when they obviously KNEW how important the global community is to so many of us. As stated above, they STRONGLY implied that cross-region guesting would be possible for PvE. This news is absolutely terrible. I prefer the free transfer every 7 days.
I’m so dissapointed. ANet has showed no sense of compassion to the global community that they fostered in GW1. They could have at least warned us during betas or in the past months.
