Hey Guys.
After 2 weeks of playing this game, I really enjoyed my experience so far but I think there’s a time where gamers need to express their feeling for this game. I did play all 3 Betas.
First of all, this isn’t a QQ post, this is an improvement/ideas that I thought I might put 2 cents in. By all means, if you love this game, go ahead and enjoy it. If you’re hearing me out, stay a bit longer.
Everyone, please be honest, just because it’s so “hyped”, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t speak your mind. ANet probably wants us to have a good experience too.
Please do excuse my poor English, it is not my first language.
I want to just point out 5 things.
1. World Events: It’s pretty fun, but it does have a pretty close “reactivation” time, ranging from 15 mins – 30 mins. It is pretty cool if you just go anywhere you want, and just do the event with everyone around. However, Where’s the Impact in the End? There’s really no impact on the world, and it just so happens that centaurs attack the SAME place every 15 minutes. It honestly have no impact on the world, and I think there should be a little change to that. Also, they get so repetitive on higher levels, and I can summarize all the world events (majority).
a. Collect So and So
b. Defend this Area
c. Kill _ (es)and Lower their Moral
d. Champion Leaves ___, please kill it.
2. Gears: This was definitely the most disappointing one I’ve seen. How come my armor looks EXACTLY the same for so many levels, and there aren’t even any customization. Sure there’s the GEM Store but it’s a ONE time use. Every time I look at my character, it feels like I didn’t progress at all. Please add some variety of armor designs, rather than the default ones.
3. Story Lines: I understand this isn’t like SWTOR (Star Wars: The Old Republic). However, as a former SWTOR player, I find the class quests level a BIG cheat. When I was level 30, after I saved the Queen (whatever her name was), I need to be level 33 to complete the next CLASS QUEST. Honestly, I felt like I was doing literally nothing to reach Level 33, and then the quest takes 3 minutes to finish. I understand that it’s not the story approach, but it really gives me a feeling where I’m not important in the story at all, and I’m just going to all these instance for 3 minutes.
4. Skills: This is a serious issue, it took me 10 levels to get ALL my weapon skills. The Traits are pretty nice, makes me be able to customize what kind of style I enjoy. However, after using the same skills for 40-50 levels, I realized there’s really nothing special but seeing your damage increase slowly. There should be a sense of “working towards something”, but after reaching ~30 levels, my skills feel pretty worthless.
5. WvWvW: There should be a Level 60+ outer bracket for them. Considering the fact where they have good traits, and good weapons/support skills. They simply demolish any 40- level players who just came in with a beginner ax. That is clearly “unbalanced”.
Conclusion:
I’m not bashing about how bad this game is. To be honest, the release of this game was clearly fantastic. I had literally a few small bugs and I didn’t have any major crash since release. ANet is also doing a great job doing almost daily updates, fixing bugs, updating their status.
I don’t expect all/most things stated here will be changed in a matter of weeks. A Good MMO takes years to develop (WoW 8 years). As of now, I feel the lack of content is really making me step back, and taking a break. I really feel this mmo started with lots of great ideas, but now it’s the stage to refine and listen to the gamers. A lot of MMOs fell because of their customer service and the lack of response from the Game Developers.
