Tempest so dull I want another class, but...

I used to feel the same way coming from my first mmo, FFXI, where i just wanted to level under one name and that be my avatar for the game but whether you level up a different alt or a different class under the same character, it’s all the same. You’ll still be grinding, be it for map completion or hero points to unlock the various aspects of the profession. It’s up to you if you choose to to view the flaws within each system as features to embrace or that rub you the wrong way.

Looking at the way classes are unlocked in GW2, the grind would be much much less than creating a brand new character. Also it’s not just the levelling that’s the problem, it’s the idea of going through all of the content again for achievement’s etc. It’s a very big inconvenience for someone who essentially doesn’t want to play the game again. This inconvenience (which has put me off playing the next expansion) vs a system which would be relatively easy to implement and which has no real negative impact on gameplay… I don’t really see the problem here.

Them self imposed problems sure can be a hassle.

Self imposed problem of not wanted to grind another 200 hours to play something different??

So as with the majority here, I’m extremely underwhelmed by the Tempest spec. The warhorn is possibly the most boring weapon in the entire game (and yes I am one of those superficial people who likes to look cool), the skills and animations generally look dull and uninspired and the spec genuinely doesn’t suit my playstyle in any way (I prefer in your face melee style dps, I main D/D :p and yes, I would have LOVED a sword). So honestly speaking when it comes to the elementalist there’s nothing new for me in HOT.

Now, this is a particular problem for a player like me. I do not roll alts. I don’t like the concept of alts. I play all MMOs like I do single player RPGs, 1 character is fine for me, it’s my only character and it is the one that’s going to represent me in the game world (I like some light RP in my MMOs). So when I look at the elementalist, I’ve been playing her for the last 3 odd years on and off and I do actually want something new. I’m looking at the revenant class for example or the new elite spec for the Thief and they both look very appealing to me. But as I said, I don’t really like playing alts, I’ve already put 1000 odd hours into my ele and honestly speaking I cba to level to 80 all over again and unlocking all of those achieves and 100% exploration… uhhhh. Just seems so repetitive to me. So this problem of mine opened up an interesting discussion point: is the current MMO class system generally too limited and archaic in 2015?

Now I know there are those of you who love your alts and love having lots of different variety and playing different styles. I’m totally not against that. What I am against is going through the same 200 hours worth of content just to experience something different. What if we lived in a perfect world where we could simply change class on our character at will? The ‘traditional’ class system was created imho to waste the time and money of people so they would stay subbed to MMOs. But wait… Guild Wars 2 prides itself on not being like traditional MMOs, it’s different, it doesn’t want you to grind, it doesn’t want you to waste your time. It more importantly it doesn’t even NEED you to waste your time.

So why not look at a game like Skyforge or even FFXIV? These games have many flaws but one thing I like that they do well is the class system. As you progress through the game, you get the opportunity to unlock different classes and level them up as you go along. So you don’t have to start all over again. None of those hours are lost, none of those achievements are wasted. What would be so wrong with GW2 having such a system? Someone like me, who doesn’t do alts, gets to experience all of the classes without wasting time and altaholics can still make alts, for aesthetic reasons, different races, story etc…

Is this s bad idea?? Am I crazy?? Please let me know. In the mean time please give me a good reason to come back to GW2, because I am seriously bored of playing ele and I don’t know what else I can do

Hey guys, I though it would be a good idea to make a thread where we can post videos or pictures of all the Legendary weapons. I’m sure people would be really interested to know what they look like just for curiosity, but also to know whether their prospective weapon is worth slaving over for hundreds and hundreds of hours.

Here’s a video to get things started:

I will update the OP as we get more and more useful vids, pics and links!!

Armoury style web interface??

This is more of a question than suggestion but I didn’t know where else to put it. Are you guys considering making WoW style armoury on your main website so that people can view each others’ gear, stats and builds etc? It would be great to integrate it with the forum so people could have their characters as their thumbnails. Just wondering if you have plans to do anything like this or not really?

Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:

I completely agree with OP. Forget the fact that the character is flat, which he really is, forget the fact that he’s a Mary Sue, which he is, forget that he hijacks your personal story, which he does, he’s just ridiculously annoying.
