If I go to the GW2 Gem Shop and buy a hat, I get a hat.
If I go to the GW2 Gem Shop and buy a chance at getting a rare dye, I get a chance at a rare dye.
If you’re going to make comparisons, be sure you compare them correctly.
Point being not the accuracy of comparisons, but that randomness for money is bad on an individual level.
It’s the gambler’s mentality. People have an unreasonably high estimation of their odds for getting the rare dyes. They buy the random ticket, find out they got the most common dye, and they come onto the forums and make threads such as this.
Or they buy several – and realize the system is kitten, and they describe what they would like to buy. You know, realizing something is bad and then providing feedback.
maybe if more people posted this complaint, there would be a chance of change.
Well you know, there is always the chance that they could NOT be 500 per new dye, and more people might be interested in buying them.
Yes – I did know going in it was a lottery ticket.
Just not a ticket I’m buying again.
I’m providing the feedback that I would love to buy the dye from the gemstore, but that I do not want lottery tickets.
I bought some of the last set of dyes – bought 2 sets of 5, and got one of the premium dyes. Not a mistake I’ll repeat.
I would LOVE to be able to buy the dyes from the gemstore. You know, instead of buying a lottery ticket.
Some of those enameled ones look really nice, but gambling at the gemstore’s odds are just too tilted.
As i think this is related (maybe?)
The fact that there are only 10 daily options really stinks. People who enjoyed dedicating all their time to sPvP can’t finish 5 dailies anymore.
People who are dedicated PvE don’t have as many options. I don’t know why less options is ever good.
Well – generally the GW2 plan is to reward people less for the things they have been doing and like doing, in order to get people to do other things. So yea, I guess that makes sense.
I feel like the number of daily achievements are super low considering that sPvP got added into the mix. Now I only have a choice of 6 non-WvW, non-sPvP dailies? That really sucks. What happened to daily gather being one every. Single. Day.
You know, I’ve heard the reward you for playing a specific way so many times that I finally get it. I guess I need to go find a game where I can get rewards playing how I would like.
I really, really disliked the old dalies. I found daily kill variety to be beyond obnoxious. And more often that not, after playing for an hour I saw only 1 event!
But really, the daily dodger takes the cake for the worst daily. I can’t even parse into words how frustrating this is. If I wanted to play a game that required near perfect timing, I would!
I say near perfect because I’m really good at dodging, but apparently, I dodge to early to get credit. Getting not hit by an attack isn’t enough.
I’m having to do way too much playing the game not the way I want to. And now! There is even more feeling like I’m kitten screwed over by not doing the dailies, because the rewards are even higher, and the monthly requires dailies.
Ugh. I wish this game lived up to a quarter of what it could be.
The number of accounts terminated as a result of this exploitative activity is actually very small—fewer than 200. However, these people are the very worst offenders, and engaged in this exploit to egregious levels—hundreds and even thousands of times. They knew exactly what they were doing and they knew that their activities would damage the economy.
As a reminder, when we dealt with the karma exploit incident in September, we said that we would show some leniency for that particular incident. However, we made it clear that future exploits would be dealt with more firmly. As a result, we have terminated the accounts of the worst offenders in this most recent incident.
As always, if you have an exploit to report, please email exploits@arena.net.
Thank you.
Say that as many times as you want. However, this is the reason I am sad I got gems for Christmas.
Yea, until this game manages to get the rewards on events right, I’m just doing the ‘get the achievement, then play something rewarding’ thing. Everything in this game is so incomprehensibly out of reach I don’t even want to try. Sure the journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step. But why is it a 1000 miles before I get anything?
This is not a bug. This is a random drop from the daily rewards. The vials also have a chance to randomly drop from every creature in the zones.
So as Azelroth suggested.. Loot everything!
I’m not on level 11. I’ll likely never hit level 11.
That being said, this is such a poor decision, it’s making me regret the gem purchase I made a few days ago.
I got to admit. Every few days I feel like I’m gonna get Banned for no reason. Yes, lots and lots of people who say they were banned illegitimately were banned for good reason. But it has happened to someone I know, and I do feel paranoid every once in a while.
I checked through that site. It does not appear to be on there. Maybe it’s town clothes?
I think it’s a bigger in-game problem.
For a game that has ‘daily kill variety,’ too many zones have majorly dominated enemies. Orr with the Risen and Human lands with the Centaurs just happen to be the worst. The Charr land with the Ghosts are pretty bad too.
The land is so beautiful and varied, you’d think the enemies would be too.
I had a miserable time today trying to find Dynamic Events. I spent a good 45 minutes in the 15-25 Norn zone and didn’t run across a single event. Very frustrating.
I wound up porting back to the 1-15 level zones to actually do events. Then I found 5 within 30 minutes.
And the disparity isn’t only due to level. On my 80 Spark-fly Fen is a great source of events, but Mount Maelstrom is only good if infinity coil chain is up.
It gets frustrating. Getting those 5 events for the day can be too much of a chore. I don’t really like having to port to a different zone in order to that part of my Daily Achievement.
I’ve noticed this several days, but it just really got to me today.
I would like to say that the event was pretty much awesome. However, I feel that having a seasonal event only running over 1 weekend is kinda meh. I think a lot of people (including myself) would have been able to actually feel like they had a shot at the ‘big prizes’ if it started 3 days earlier.
I got the achievement, was happy I got it. But knew not even to bother for any of the other prizes because there was just no chance with how much time I have.
Either way it was a lot of fun, but I hope AreaNet seriously considers that for at least a few people there is really only two gaming days a week.
Apparently…. October 22nd means Midnight the night of October 22nd. As in, not October 22nd anywhere.
