I know we all are probably tired of these types of threads but I am a fairly new player and am having fps issues and just had some questions. Here is my current setup:

Intel i7 4790K Processor
16gb Vengeance Ram
GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 Motherboard
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Video Card
Samsung Evo 850 500GB SSD
Windows 7 64bit Pro

I am playing on a single screen at 1920×1080 with everything pretty much on high. I have tried several guides, re-installing, unparking, reseating vid card, etc. In Lion’s Arch low populated I get around 40-50fps in heart of the Mist I am getting around 39fps. Depending where I am and assuming very little to no population in the PVE world I get around 60-90fps. My biggest problem is that when I pan my camera I get massive frame drops. Vertical Sync has made a difference in low pop areas, but makes no difference with other players or massive zergs. I’ve noticed while my cpu runs a tad warm (around 60c while playing) the cpu load is around 30%. My question is, I have heard that this game is very CPU heavy yet I am only getting around 30-45% load even on the massive WvW scale battles. But my frames are still suffering even with low pop areas. I am leaning towards the possibility that it could be my video card so I was considering buying another 970 or just getting the 980 ti. Anyone with a similar setup that could give me a few pointers or a recommendation?

yeah i’m just a bit confused by that… I tried a trap build some would consider a “farming” build but it turned out to be just meh…

I’m pretty sure I posted in the right forum and if not I apologize in advance. I’m a fairly new player and do okay in solo que. I’ve been running a sort of shortbow/swordwarhorn crit build burst spec. Once I hit tournaments however I feel as if either my build or ranger/my independent skill is lacking somewhere. I’ve looked in several other forums that have some suggestions and i’ve tried them but not much success. I am sorta looking for someone with experience to point me in a direction. Question: is are their any viable ranger builds currently used in tPVP that I can get some sort of idea from and playstyle. Id like to get better as a player but at the same time I also feel the build is a bit unbecoming.
