ok, so.. i just got done reading the contest rules, and looking over the requirements. Does any one else find it funny that, in a WEAPON design contest, you CANNOT design a WEAPON that…

wait for it….

promotes the use of FIREARMS/WEAPONS???

how does this clause NOT disqualify every. single. submission?

Hi! I was chatting with Gaile earlier today in game (You are welcome for the daily JP port, Gaile! ) and She suggested I come here, and post. I was trying to plant the seed… how does everyone feel about developing aerial/gliding combat for all of Tyria? I was so pleasantly pleased when Bloodstone Fen was released, with it’s learn-able/buy-able gliding skills… and thoroughly disappointed with the lack of those abilities for the next 3 LS3 releases. well, except the updraft use, specifically for attacking cannons in Lake Doric. I know it would be a large undertaking, but developing aerial combat would bring a whole new dimension to the central Tyria maps. My thinking is mainly this: – I HATE how, even in Central Tyria, any ground based ranged enemy can target, and HIT you while you are in the air, but you can’t do anything about it…. short of dodge-stealthing and hope they don’t stun you out of gliding.

My suggestions include:
a gliding bomb drop skill, that will stun an enemy back.

we have underwater weapons, maybe develop aerial weapons? ranged equip-able weapons that pop out when you glide, so you can target, and attack enemies from the air.

a specific “gunship” glider… something ascended that you build. similar to spinal blades in nature, that employ mounted weapons that can be used while gliding.

You could add this new unlock as a current event, or playable story, or collections similar to making a Legendary… or consider it a Legendary Glider…. or as simple as everyone gets one, and just make it a part of gliding in general.

anyone else on board with this, or am I crazy? Move this post to where ever it fits best. I tried searching for Aerial combat, and couldn’t find anything similar.

I was chatting with Gaile, earlier today in game, and she suggested I post here, with my ideas. Amongst other ideas that i will post elsewhere, I suggest looking into turning several pre-HoT backpieces into glider skins. I see some of the listed suggestions have already been done (Glide-r-tron, wings etc). I would like to add the following: Dragon wings- both Holographic, and Shattered Holographic. These make excellent, fairly rare original game back-pieces, that would be amazing as a glider option. Same with Ascended Spinal Blade backpiece. Make a dye-able spinal blade glider so people can match the version of Blades they have on their toon. thanks!

Ive never seen them active before. it’s possible that they have been working on the them, and that explains why appear active to some, but not others.

The kids will be saved since the law demands it. If Arenanet wants the game to maintain it’s ERSB rating, children cannot be killed. Even combat with children is a no-no. It was an issue when they introduced Taimi, but they convenient implemented the caveat that she was disabled and only could operate in a golem, which would avoid the issue alltogether.

However, the bad salad asuras, the centaur-spear head traders, the wine ladies, and the Savings guy are all free game.

lol! you forgot the "You’re face is funny kid, and the NO, YOU’RE face is funny Charr LionGuard duo… what about that.. if the Charr Lionguard guy gets killed.. what’s to happen to the kid… who will he pick on now?

Jordo, I hope you are right.. Ive been saying there is a Dragon under LA…. even from the start. Mordermoth makes perfect sense, as well as the rest of your hypothesis… The Tengo thing is a bit of a stretch, but I believe that was always the choice of the next playable race… How about this as an Idea-melder: LA will fall, but -since the Tengu are all traders, and this will effectively put them on our side, the New LA will be formed within the giant walls of the Tengu Fortress, and will now be opened up for us to use. Hence tying the Tengu into a playable race, as well as having a major central city geographically located next to the ruins of LA- which will now become a new playable area.

Mine is slightly different- I did battle through 2 and a half hours of the event with extreme server lag, and still managed to hang on long enough to get the chest at teh end… However, my problem lies with the island itself. During the event, and about 3 hours i was there before the event, i got no (ZERO) XP for killing ANYTHING. I would kill riders, karka, drake, sharks, skelk… all with NO xp gained. I thought my game was glitched, so I DC/RC several times to no avail. After the event, it seems my daily progress was wiped, and I had to start over again to finish the daily. The only drop I would get before and during the event was crab meat. After, it started dropping normal things & gold. Also- it seems that while on the island, I have paper armor. Anywhere else, it’s normal lvl 80 Exotic armor with decent defense. Lastly, weapons were doing 0-5 damage. I assume there is some kind of glitch that needs to be addressed. I hope I’m not the only one with these particular issues.
