@Gaile Gray
While I respect the fact that you took the time to reply to my thread, in detail, I notice that you ducked my question. We know that you’re working hard to fix this. What we want to know is what you’re doing to fix it. We deserve to be in the loop, since we’re being hit hard with so many bans. I honestly don’t think it’s asking a lot to be informed.

At this point, I really think ArenaNet owes the players an official response on its plans to slow (or stop) the “false positive” bans. Hundreds, if not thousands of players are unable to log in due to being a victim of an unjustified ban. I read these forums a lot, and here’s what scares me about what I read:
1) A few accidental bans is one thing, but the sheer daily numbers of new bans is staggering. These forums are crawling with players begging for help, confused about what they have done wrong.
2) Players who are able to play, or have just returned from a ban are second-guessing all their actions, wondering if it’ll lead to a ban. We can’t play in fear of unjustified bans like this. It just isn’t fair.
3) Some accounts are reinstated without so much as a notification, apology, or explanation of why the ban happened in the first place. Granted, most players probably DO receive some notification that their account is reinstated, but this should be 100%. It’s just good service.
4) The notion that you could be banned while engaging in a legitimate in-game action, which does NOT violate the ToS. Perhaps an official list, from ArenaNet, showing the actions which are accidently causing bans. This would put some of the ability to slow the bans on us, the players, allowing you, ArenaNet, to focus on the outstanding tickets, and take control of this problem.
My question to ArenaNet is: What’s the plan to fix this obvious problem?

If they really didn’t like AFKers, they could just auto-kick players who are afk for a given amount of time…
They already do. I guess that isn’t good enough.

I worry about the same thing. I was unjustifiably banned for botting, and am still waiting on reactivation. The thing that scares me is that I play with my wife too, and I’m trying to get my roommate to play. I could see ANet banning my wife and roommate for being on the same map and sharing the same IP address, regardless of what we’re doing. This crap needs to get fixed quick, or GW2 will go the way of Diablo 3.

This is ridiculous. I should be compensated in some way for this inconvenience of not being able to play now.
Yes, I agree. If this problem only happened to a few unlucky people, and the bans were undone at a much faster pace than they are now, I’d say everything is fine; However, things are NOT fine, and there are hundreds, if not thousands of innocent players being caught in the net. There should definitely been some compensation. If not, an apology would be a good start. Sorry to be negative. I’ve spent the last 2 days bored as hell.
Submit a ticket and get in line, unfortunately

@Evisceration.8107 – same thing happened to me, just log a ticket and they’ll take care of it.
Ticket was submitted less than 10 minutes after I was disconnected. Thanks for the comment though
Do not start a chargeback through PayPal prior to getting a response to your Support ticket with us, as this will cause an adverse affect on your game account!
I can speak to this. A friend of mine decided that he didn’t like Diablo III, and initiated a chargeback via his bank. Blizzard perm banned his account forever. Definitely talk to ANet customer support first.

The number of false positives is very small
With all due respect sir/ma’am, I believe “very small” is incorrect. The system used to catch cheaters is far too aggressive.

“Your Guild Wars 2 account has been terminated due to botting, extended unattended play, using macros, or similar behavior.”
Seriously? First of all, I didn’t do any of these things to warrant a permanent ban, much less a suspension. Second, botting/afk/macros, these are all separate offenses. This automated message leaves it up to me to GUESS why I’ve been banned, instead of providing a clear reason. With a message like this, I don’t even know what to dispute because I don’t even know what the offense is. On top of that, ANet doesn’t even have a support line to call, in order to expedite un-ban requests. Absolutely ridiculous!
On an unrelated thought, if ANet is indeed handing out bans for swearing, I’d like to offer some advice. The maturity/profanity filter is a useless feature. Might as well just remove it and call it a loss.
