UPDATE: I am a Norn Engineer, currently level 77. All testing was done solo, in various zones. The Healing Turret bug has been consistent in every zone I’ve recently been in (Sparkfly Fen, Timberline Falls, Mount Maelstrom, as well as Lion’s Arch and Heart of the Mists PvP lobby) while the Flame Turret was consistent in each of those zones except for Heart of the Mists.
I am a Norn Engineer, currently level 77. All testing of traits was done alone in Lion’s Arch, with all gear (save for toughness-neutral pants and shield) removed.
I was experimenting with the traits Juggernaut and Reinforced Shield to see how they interacted and found something very odd:
Reinforced Shield always grants 90 toughness, but the 200 toughness from Juggernaut scales with level. I first noticed this at level 62, where it granted 155 toughness (62/80 * 200 = 155). As seen in the screenshot, I tried it again at level 77, where it grants 192 toughness (77/80 * 200 = 192.5).
Why does one scale with level and the other does not? Why does the Juggernaut tooltip not reflect this? I feel like they should work the same way, whichever way that should be.
When using the Deployable Turrets trait (apprentice inventions) with the Healing Turret healing skill, the corresponding toolbelt skill changes from Healing Mist to… Healing Turret.
Using the toolbelt skill or the actual healing skill will drop the turret (however the toolbelt turret does not use ground targeting), and detonating the turret once placed sets both skills on a 20-second cooldown.
~Side Note~ I also had issues a few days ago where my Flame Turret was not using ground targeting with the trait, but I have been unable to reproduce this for the bug report.
Were you being down-leveled when you checked the scaling on Juggernaut toughness? I can’t check this since I’m at 80, but it seems that it should give you the full 200 toughness unless your entire toughness stat is being reduced. I believe you, it just seems strange that in a fairly recently-changed trait there would still be another tooltip error. I understand that they’re focusing on bug fixes first and tooltip updates later, but like you say, you’d think both traits and tooltips would act the same way.
I was in Lion’s Arch, so I wasn’t being down-leveled. How recent was the change to Juggernaut? I know it used to be different, but I don’t know how long ago that was.
I should clarify: The shield granted power/precision, so it did not play into results. In fact, when I tested the toughness boost from the Juggernaut trait alone, I removed my weapons and shield entirely.
I’ve leveled to 62 using various rifle/turret builds. It’s been great so far, but I wanted to try something new since turrets are rather maligned on the forums. Something popular to try… Flamethrower it is!
I wanted to be as beefy as possible, so I experimented with the Juggernaut (Masterwork Firearms) and Reinforced Shield (Master Inventions) traits together to see if they stacked. In doing so, I discovered two things:
1) When a flamethrower is equipped, Reinforced Shield DOES NOT grant 90 toughness.
2) The toughness granted from Reinforced Shield is 90, BUT the toughness granted from Juggernaut is SCALED TO MY LEVEL: At level 62, the bonus was 155 (i.e. 62/80 * 200)
I wonder if this second point was intentional, and why the tooltip does not reflect this. It seems strange to me that both traits don’t work the same way.
