But again; atm. the Mesmer is too strong by itself, which just doesn’t work if he has THE BEST SKILL in the game. If Portal remains as strong, Mesmers should just be squishy supporters that loose in every 1v1, so that at least another Person would have to go through the Portal to def a Point.
But with Mesmers as strong as they are right now, a well Portal-guarded Point can basically only be recapped if your team collapses on it and how do you collapse on a point fast without running into the Problem of loosing your other point(s)? Exactly: with a Portal! ^^’
I’ll start by stating, yes, I main a mesmer since launch. I chose the class based on it’s concept and issues like this make me fear that mesmers will indeed be nerfed to only a support role that cannot do anything on their lonesome. I would rather nerf skills like portal than destroy our damage/viability in 1v1/etc. to compensate. Fix blatant damage bugs to put our damage on par with other classes (below some bursty classes damage to compensate for our escape/defensive mechanisms) but relegating any class to a support class would be countering the original premise of guild wars that there are no set roles based on class. Obviously some classes perform at some things better, but the give and take of HOW each class fulfills goals is what makes this game interesting.
Nerf portal, give some other classes similar (not exactly the same flavor) utilities to get rid of any class being ‘required,’ but none of this ‘squishy support class’ or any other such concrete role for various classes. That’s been played out ad nauseam elsewhere.
I’m currently running in Rampager’s gear (missing top and boots because I just hit 80 and am still working on farming them). I run with a 25/20/0/25/0 build atm (25 in inspiration for the extra 15% phantasm dps and reflects, plus a little hp is always nice) using GS and Sword/pistol/focus. I have knights accessories with coral orbs(prec/pow/cond) so that if I do get hit I don’t go squish-pop. I only have crests in my armor while I farm enough for runes, but I’m leaning toward Ogre runes (Really wish they’d fix Rune of the Pack :/ ).
My question is would Berserker’s gear equal more overall damage? Is crit damage better than some condition damage ( ~1000 cond)? I originally chose Rampager’s moreso for the fact that it prioritizes precision as the main stat, but is it needed? My crit chance is only 50% currently and I wanted to raise that up some. Is the added condition damage (I have SI from traiting into Dueling) at all worth it? I want to prioritize damage, while preferably having some hp/toughness somewhere in the mix.
Thanks
