So. Let me start off with some background before you guys attack me or side with me.
I haven’t played Guild Wars 2 since “Bash the Dragon”. So yes. It has been a while. Over the last week or 2 though I have been doing the 5-6 Big Meta events every day to kind of Farm like I used to. But I have yet to get a single Exotic.
So I came to this conclusion.
5*7=35*3=105. @65% Magic Find.
0 Exotics over 105 events across 3 Lv80 characters, leaves me with a 0% chance of getting exotics. Obviously this is really small testing. But my previous testing showed that across 100 Meta events I would get about 15-25 exotics (VERY ROUGHLY)
So. With all that Aside… and with Guild Wars 2 getting closer to its 2yr of being up and running…
What is ArenaNet’s incentive to doing these Large scale events that were designed to be a key feature of the game? This is a problem for a number of reasons. Games like this are usually about the gear. You get excited when you see an Exotic item in your loot. When you find an upgrade to what you were using before. When you find that weapon or armor piece that will finally complete your set or your look.
It’s not exciting to grind just to find enough gold to buy an Exotic off the BLTP. Or to craft an exotic item.
I just wanted to ask the community and Developers. What do they think of Meta events as they stand today.
TL;DR Start Here
-Are they worth doing?
-Do they generate the experience that is desired from such a feature of the game?
-What would you PERSONALLY do to change Meta Events? ( I say personally for anyone who works at ANet who wants to put their 2 cents in without people assuming that’s what is happening.)
-If Meta events are the ginger step-child feature for you now… Why? And what do you do now in place?
Thank-you for reading!
“We are preparing an expansion pack, but in terms of when we will actually launch it, it’s something that we’re still monitoring the situation on,” stated NCSoft managing director Nah Seong. “We’re looking at the performance of the game and deciding when it would be the best time to do the launch, and that’s still something we’re thinking about.”

So they are going to, but its the matter of WHEN. It’s another… “When its ready” thing really.
First off, I would like to congratulate ArenaNet on the success of their game!
Reference: http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/guild-wars-2-expansion-confirmed/
So… About a week-or-so ago I heard that NCSoft was so pleased with ArenaNet’s success that they are funded for a full fledged expansion.
Needless to say…
Pants were moistened…
And in said warmth and comfort I began a plethora of brain storming ideas and fantasies for the up coming expansion. Obviously with no sound information on said expansion pack… my imagination ran wild with skittle sugar fueled rainbow explosions.
Some of the things I thought of and are hoping for are…
- New Classes – Back in Guild Wars 1 (GW1), I was a huge fan of Paragon and Dervish. Guardian is a decent replacement for Paragon… However… My Scythe swinging, form changing, dress wearing, ballet spinning, fakittenes… have yet to be fulfilled in Guild Wars 2. Personally, I’m just hoping for the return of Dervish.
- New Weapon types – Obviously Scythes/Polearms would make a great addition to the game, or the ability to use, let’s say, the underwater spear on land, would be a fantastic addition.
- More Elite Skills – I know they don’t want a lot of skills in the game for balance reasons, but c’mon… I want mooooorrrreeeeee
- More Armor styles – What? I can be greedy…
- Even More Armor Styles – SHUTTUP! OK! DON’T JUDGE ME!
- Dungeons – As much as I love the current dungeons… I would love to see the addition of another 8+ dungeons with their own Armor/weapon sets.
That’s all I could think of (well… remember…).
What are some of YOUR wants and desires for the Guild Wars 2 expansion?
Today I was informed I HAVE to change my password. I’m ok with it. That makes sense to me. What DOESN’T make sense is that it keeps rejecting my password that I want to change to with the error message “Password must be at least 8 characters long”.
Why is that a problem? Cause the new password is 14 characters long… I tried 8-16 character long passwords. All failed with the same message.
So now I can’t play Guild Wars 2…
Any idea how to fix this?
As the title says. The font is just, Horrible. I would love to play the game with a small interface, but the font size on the trading post actually holds me back on that. It’s the only thing that wrong with it.
So I would love to see it fixed as soon as possible <3
Please?
I just think its a shame… Such beautiful armor designs and they aren’t in the game
I’ve searched and checked everything. nothing looks like it at all. The closest is the legs look like HotW dungeon pants.
So today me and a handful of friends were playing Guild wars 2, leveling up some toons and stuff. Arguing. Like always. Like how we 2 of us preferred what sylvari’s USED to look like… back in the days when GW2 was just announced. The other 2 prefer the way they look now.
However that’s not what I want to bring up.
(please refer to this picture: http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg42/Intui/random/GW2GDCCharactersWallpaper1920x1200.jpg )
In this picture, top row, 4th and 5th from the right (The angelic looking set of Heavy armor, right in between the Order of Whispers armor and the, what I can expect to be the falconers armor)
WHERE DID THIS ARMOR GO?! Everyone I have ever showed that armor concept art to in Guild Wars 2 has said the same thing. “Yes. That armor makes me excited. Can I has it now?”
:( I wish this armor was in the game…
WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY QUESTION. can i has it.
But seriously though… Is there any armor out there that you guise would love to have? or see…
I just hope they add more armor to the game and soon.
It would be great to have like Lutes and Harps that we could buy in the gem shop!
Maybe perform in the streets of lions arch to make money too XD
Ever since the Bell from the christmas event I have wanted my own instrument in the game! But I missed the wintersday event cause I was gone for a month
.
I would love to see more instruments added to the gem shop for people to buy and play
Maybe not 10 Laurels… 15 or 20 ya I agree, but Fractals are harder to do than Dailies so I would say for it to be fair I would say 15-20.
Will more “Solo” content be added into the game? Currently the game is very “Group” based but a lot of players like to stay solo or in groups of 2-3.
Currently it is difficult to make money in GW2 as a “Solo’er”
Will more classes be added into Guild Wars 2? A lot of people miss some of the GW1 favourites like Dervish and Ritualist.
First of all, I should start saying I’m really excited for the 2013 updates! I’m sure they will be loads of fun! However I have a few questions and a request regarding the 2013 updates.
I will also accept the answer “We cannot comment on this at this time.” because I understand NDA and not wanting to release info before it is ready.
Questions:
1. Will there be expansion packs in the future? How much will they cost? What will they add?
2. Will “Dueling” ever be added into the game?
3. Will more utility, healing, racial and elite skills be added into the game in the future (2013)?
4. Can I have a pet turtle for my ranger and name him Charles?
5. Can I touch Colin Johansons beard?
Well that raps up my questions! Now… The request.
I have but only 1 request. But it is a big one… Please add more classes to the game. In more particular… The Dervish. Before GW1 Nightfall I had never played a class quite like it. I fell in love with the class instantly, just to have it taken away in GW2. I’ve tried everything to bring that love back with another class in GW2 or tried to fall in love with another but… I have failed. I’m not saying I don’t like the classes. I’m just saying I haven’t been enjoying any of them more than the others. Guardian and Ranger are the 2 I enjoy most but I don’t enjoy them nearly as much as I did dervish back in GW1.
I only bring this up because I heard on the forums once that ArenaNet wont be making any more classes to the game cause there is “Something for everyone” when there isn’t. I feel like I’m on the side lines… I don’t have much to hold onto in GW2 and when I see my guildies playing their favourite classes, I feel sorta left out.
So for the TL:DR’ers
I want dervish cause none of the classes give me that loving feel like Dervish did in GW1.
Also. I don’t mean just added Dervish (obviously). I would love to see other classes added too! New ones. Old ones. Crazy ones that can only be thought up by a Asura drinking a Sylvari “Nectar Drink”… god those were crazy nights…
Thank you for reading!
~Damen.
I love Guild Wars 1 and how they did their “expansions”. But I have heard so many different things about Guild Wars 2 is handling their expansions, but I haven’t found anything about it!
So I thought to my self (What a wonderful woooorld~) why not go to the Forums where all teh smurt peepelz R…
So can anyone tell me how the future expansions are going to be set up? I have been told that Its going to be like GW1, I was also told that they were going to be free, but you had to pay with gems for new classes and races (I doubt that one). I was also told that they would all be completely free (Another one I doubt).
So if anyone could clear the air for me, that would just be the bookah’s best.
SIDE QUESTION:
If they add more classes to GW2 in the future… What classes would you hope for? I would hope for a puppetmaster class… Or dervish… OH GOD PLEASE BRING BACK DERVISH
Super simple request that I’m sure everyone would love… A tokens tab for your dungeon tokens in the bank. And maybe an inventory option (like compact and deposit collectables) to deposit your tokens!
I would love this and I’m sure like 99% of the GW2 community would enjoy this.
Disclaimer!
First I would like to say, not all Guardians are like this. It just feels like during events and dungeons I’m the only one doing this.
Dear fellow Guardians,
Did you know that your Virtues can be used to help allies? No? Well guess what! They can. Now I know… Loosing that buff might suck… but really… Lets look at this for a second. Whats better? Having aegis every 40 seconds… OR! Helping all nearby allies absorb that heavy AoE attack thats coming your way… Yeah I guessed so. The Aegis is supposed to be useful randomly, but even more useful for all.
Think of the Virtues like bats. Yes. Bats. Bats will fly out at night and find food, but if a bat is weak from being sick, hurt, or hungry… Other bats will come back to the cave and feed it. Gross, because of regurgitation but! Helping that bat means that it will help other bats when it feels better. Thus. Helping others to help yourself. Use those virtues in dungeons and events, even PvP… because maybe that person will come back and help you.
YOU TOO… can be… THE BATMAN… or BATGIRL!
So in short. Use virtues more please… I’m tired of being in a dungeon party with guardians who hoard their Virtues and never use them because they think they will never have them again.
May Dwayna bless your travels~

The skill Mercilful Intervention has a 80 second cooldown by default. and is a Meditation. When you equip the faster cooldown trait, it keeps the 80second cooldown, rather than dropping it to 64 seconds.
I noticed this when trying to do stuff in Orr with my friend. Its not game breaking at the moment, but is making my build more challenging to use.
:) I hope ANet fixes this ASAP.
Best of luck
