Thanks for the replies. I am learning every day.

I have been taking part in the dynamic events in Cursed Shore.
Before the Oct. 7 patch, I got experience for most (about 95%) mobs that died if I did damage.
After the Oct. 7 patch, I am rarely getting experience from mobs I hit/damage. Now it seem that I get experience about 5% of the time.

I read nothing in the patch notes about any change in the formula for awarding experience.

Was this intended?
At level 80 experience is not really useful; is it?
