Hey all,
A little bit about me: I loved Guild Wars 2 when it launched and played it up until shortly after Heart of Thorns launched. Then I stopped and haven’t been back.
Let me start by saying I’m NOT trying to start an internet argument. I don’t know where else to ask about this, so I’ll try here.
How is Heart of Thorns nowadays? I play super late at night due to my schedule, and when HoT launched it seemed mega frustrating and non-solo friendly. Is this still the case? I’m sure HoT is awesome for some, but it seemed super unwelcoming to me. It’s the first expansion in a while that I regretted having bought.
Anyway, how is it? I loved playing GW2, but felt shut out by Heart of Thorns. Is there a place for solo players in GW2’s future? If not, I get it and can go elsewhere. I’ve been doing that for the past (almost) two years. I’d like to check out GW2 again though if possible, as I think it’s a unique and special game.
Thanks in advance.

I tried unequipping all kits and received the same result. I’m hoping they patch this soon, or at least make the gun an inventory item for the length of the achievement.
Impossible to complete LA Exterminator achievo solo as an engineer since the karka rifle is lost when entering water (need to traverse waterways to access some of the karkas). It will auto swap to harpoon gun.
Thanks for the reports. The team is aware of this and will roll out a fix when they can do so. One workaround mentioned in this thread and confirmed as functional: Unequip all kits (do not have them in your skill bar) when you attempt to complete this achievement and you should be able to do so.
Saw the recommendation and was excited to try it when I came home from work. It does not work, at least not for me. Please fix this, or at least make the gun an inventory item. I do not have any alts, so my 80 engineer is all I have. Please remedy this soon.
I ran into this last night. Is Arenanet even addressing this? I don’t play alts, and my 80 engy is all I have.
I don’t always play Guild Wars 2, but when I do, it’s with Madcast Gaming.
MCG Factoid #1: Did you know, for only pennies a day, that you can do something productive with those pennies and join Madcast Gaming?
Agents are standing by to take your calls.
I thought it was a pretty good attempt at a recruitment..err…thingie!
Yeah!
Hi there, friend!
Do you play Guild Wars 2? Do you often find yourself thinking, “Wow, how do Asurans hold those massive heads up?” Do you sometimes wonder, “Gee, how can I get some neat abbreviations next to MY character’s name?”
Well then look no further! Madcast Gaming is the guild community for you! “Huh?” You say, “That makes no sense! Who cares about guild name abbreviations? Only an idiot would advertise something like that!”
Well sir, or madame, (I can’t tell, because you’re just looking at this post and I’m writing it, probably in the past. Anyway..) WE are that idiot.
“But Feiron! What’s in it for me other than some brackets next to my name and a few letters?” Well, the most important part of a guild, and that’s community.
You see, there’s no community without u, i, or y. Together that spells UIY, which is short for Undergraduate Inventor of the Year, which has absolutely nothing to do with this.
Oh, we also do fractals, alcohol fueled runs through jumping puzzles, and various other ridiculous things to make each other laugh, but I’m trying to be professional here! Community, remember?
You should join us and do things. Stuff may also be involved, but we’re still waiting to hear back about that.
We’re Madcast Gaming, because Perturbedcast Gaming didn’t sound as cool.*

This person may or may not be a full member of Madcast Gaming, and is, in fact, not. His opinions are his own until Madcast Gaming says they’re not, in which case they are no longer his own.
I joined Madcast about a month ago. This is the first time I’ve feel like I’ve found a guild to call home since the original launch of wow. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t give MCG a try!
