Oh, and the other reason I like this build so far… I have an 80 ele that I took d/d and nobody told me beforehand that you had to take crack cocaine to effectively play that build. This one I can do quite well with just caffeine and, I hope, achieve the same results.
I"m missing something guys. After reading this thread I’ve decided to lvl up a mesmer and give this a shot. I’ve only gotten him into the mid 20’s so far and starting at about lvl 15, even pve got to be fun. (still not brave enough to go into wvw without the 2h yet) Got the combo fields down pretty well, thanks for all the explanation. But I’ve looked everything over and not sure how phant regen it’s acquired. Is there some trait or ?? that I need to get them to cast this? So far, mine aren’t.
Regeneration comes from the 15 point minor trait in inspiration. I honestly don’t recommend this build for leveling, as it has so many high level trait dependent functions, although you certainly can use it, if you like the playstyle.
Ah, I must have missed it, thanks Pyro.
Yes, I realized pretty early on that lvling up, there was no way to I’d be able to accomplish half the things your build does. But, I’m old and it takes me a bit to get the ‘muscle memory’ in my fingers so I wanted to get an early start on training. That and I didn’t want to hit 80, dive into wvw with a completely different build and get kitten because I didn’t know what I was doing.
I thot at first I’d have to use the 2h to lvl simply for dmg output. But at around lvl 15, the staff and sw/focus really started to take off (that or I got better at using them). So well in fact that I managed to solo the champion jungle troll. It may not be the whirl and collect your loot bags my guardian is, but even at this lvl, I have no fear of diving into 4 or 5 mobs.
I’m still using the 2h when I head out to wvw simply for the range and knockback it offers (melee range in wvw at lvl 20 is rather suicidal even with retal) But, with what I’m learning in pve about this build… I have a couple of d/d ele’s I need to introduce myself to when I do hit 80.
Thanks for the inspiration.

I’m done with this crap. I keep posting my rants in this thread and nothing is getting done. I’ve just submitted a bug report on this and I’ll keep submitting one EVERY SINGLE DAY till it’s fixed.
They stopped culling WvW… STOP CULLING MY TRADING!
Here’s one advantage to them fixing this. I’d have a lot less time to troll the forums while waiting for their ‘anti-bot’ feature to reset and would instead, get to play the game.
You’re getting mad over 10 seconds. You get an error if you spam sell too many items.
If you wait 10 seconds, you can start selling again.
You’re really getting mad over something so trivial.
No, you don’t understand. It’s not trivial. Some of us buy and sell items to make our gold. At times, I have HUNDREDS of items I need to pick up and resell. Since items in the trading company are not stacked and are in the order purchased, when I pick them up it’s a random mess in my bags. Even though I bought 20 of an item, they’re waiting to be picked up, and want to resell them all, when I pick them up I may only get 1 or 2.
This means I have to buy MASSIVE bags in order to try to get as many of one item in my bags as I can so that I can sell as many as possible with one click because they’re not stacked in my bags either.
What SHOULD be a 5 minute trading session turns into an hour long drudgery of waiting for their ‘anti-bot’ feature to catch up to my clicking. To me, it’s an anti-player feature and far from trivial. It’s SO un-trivial that at times I’m buying things faster than the game allows me to sell them.
If you don’t trade, I can see how this has no effect on you and you’d consider it whining. To those of us who do trade, it’s a royal pain.
The simple fixes… either remove this anti-bot feature or start stacking purchases in the
trading company that are waiting to be picked up. I know it’s possible for them to stack because if a person sells me 2 of one item, those DO get stacked. Why not the rest???
And I logged in as well to ask for an option to disable these…. annoying things. Let me see them when I want.
Sorry to keep dredging up this old topic but THIS little ‘feature’ annoys me more than… jumping puzzles.
FIX THIS!
Either make weapons and armor stackable or remove this nuisance.
Here’s one for you. A commander just told our map that he WANTED the opposing teams to take everything we owned so he could watch us die just to get his daily healer done.
Working as intended….
When the reward system benefits those that TAKE from other teams more than it benefits them to HOLD what they have, you’ll always have zergs.
Now I’m a noob but I’m already seeing this and am rather disappointed in how it works. On our server the night zerg logs in and pretty much cleans house. Two entire maps or more are completely converted to our color. Within 30 minutes of them leaving, you can barely find 3 people in WvW. Then, the other two teams slowly regain their share. Tonite for example, the zerg took all of Eternal and almost immediately logged out. Before cannon build sites could even pop on SM, an enemy team of 10 players had taken it back. There was no one logged in to defend it.
Funny thing is, I see how these zerg players could care less. Their goal isn’t to actually hold a keep. There’s not enough rewards so why even try? The more keeps and towers that the enemy takes back, the more they stand to gain when they log in the next night. To prove my point, no guild even bothered to claim SM.
If you’re levelling a new character you wanna be in that zerg. Gaining levels is quick and the xp bar moves like it’s on roller skates. You DON’T wanna have to squat in some keep for hours sitting behind a cannon hitting 1,2,3 defending it because you gain little or nothing. You’d be better off PvE’ing.
As long as zerg behavior is rewarded and defending is pointless (on a reward basis, not a personal satisfaction basis), you’ll have nothing but zergs.
It’s the 21’st century, people don’t do anything unless it benefits them directly.
I just thank the dev’s that they had the foresight to reward those that revive otherwise I’d spend most of my time in the map view looking for a waypoint.
Hang on, I realize I’m new here but…
Wintersday: Updated some Wintersday-specific crafting recipes that required an incorrect number of components.
Everyone was booted off the server and had their game play interrupted at prime US times for THAT? Seriously???
