Massive, huge rendering issues in WvW siege fights (getting worse)

The reason that you can’t see all the surrounding enemy and allied players is because the developers have set a draw(render) distance depending on how many characters are currently on screen.

If there is too many, they stop rendering these characters until they are really close to you, so anything outside a small radius around you is simply not drawn to the screen.

Why do they do this? Because Guild Wars 2 is a CPU-bound game with poorly optimized graphics. They simply cannot afford to implement a larger render distance for characters, because you would lose so much more FPS, effectively rendering WvW unplayable for most people on anything but a high-end PC.

It’s a double-edged sword situation. Lets say you want to see more characters on screen? Say bye bye to your FPS.

Want to have more FPS and a better playable game? Sorry, but you are only going to see players in a close vicinity to you.

The only consolation (it is a poor one), is that you can still track player movements or actions by watching for visual spell animations in the distance.

Just did a second run through and this time everything worked. Very strange.. I recall from the first attempt that during loading, it suddenly played a sequence then abruptly stopped and continued loading.

It probably bugged itself with that, maybe this is related to a loading issue which could coincide with all the people having problems with long load times etc. Only a theory though.

Same problem here.

Except in my case, I cannot get onto the second ship because nobody made another gang plank.

Should update the title from Bug to Blocked Progress!

Processor: i5-2320 3.0ghtz
8 gig ram
AMD Radeon HD 7350

You ask us how your computer will run given the specs you have presented, yet 8 hours later you tell us:

Because guess what…I am in the game as I post this and I have 30-35 fps…so much for this computer not being able to run GW2 huh. HA

EDIT: Actually anywhere from 35-45 fps. So yeah, you guys might wanna do a little more research before making fools of yourselves.

Why even bother asking here so?

Also, you claim the system cost you 2200 something (dollars, euros)?

Either way, that is a gigantic ripoff. 1 minute of googling will tell you that.

If you really payed this much, get a refund immediately because you have been fooled. Otherwise, you are a really weak troll.

There really is two options here:

- Install a 64bit version of Windows 7 so you can use the full 8GB of RAM that you have.
(32bit Windows only recognizes up to approx 3.25GB, so you have a lot of unreachable memory available)

- Increase the size of your Windows page file (Making it 4GB or so should be enough) Instructions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ZA/windows-vista/Change-the-size-of-virtual-memory

Your motherboard has the following expansion slots (according to this site: http://www.game-debate.com/motherboard/index.php?mot_id=892&motherboard=Pegatron%20Benicia%201.01 )

1 x PCI 32bit
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16

Your graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5770) supports up to PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface.

If you hover your mouse over the Bus interface window in GPU-Z you see an info box pop up with further information. Furthermore, to test if the card is raising its bandwidth configuration during load (it sits at x16 1.1 when it’s idle, this is normal!)

Press the “?” question mark symbol beside the Bus interface window and start the render test. Wait a few seconds and see if the bandwidth link increases.

Here is a compressed list of game crashes that you have experienced (the most frequent ones are listed above).

The most common problem seems to be that you are running out of memory for almost every problem. The out of memory error is your biggest issue.

Another example is the failed assertion !m_data->GetHiResFile(). This means that m_data was unable to successfully allocate(out of memory) a 2D texture, it returned a null value and then gw2 closed itself.

At this point, we would need to know more about your computer, a -diag report (create a shortcut and run Gw2.exe with the -diag command. Instructions here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments

This will create, at startup, a detailed diagnostic logfile which contains data about connection tests and hardware information, located in your game directory or “Documents\Guild Wars 2” (NetworkDiag.log). or a Speccy report (http://www.piriform.com/speccy).
