Hiding Certain Parts of the UI

In mmos, especially ones where the art and environment are excellent, I like to be able to immerse myself as much as possible, and that usually means having to turn off the UI completely while I explore. But this isn’t especially helpful in combat situations, collecting items, or when I’m trying to follow the map.

I think it would be really helpful for immersion if there were maybe an option somewhere in the graphics menu to have the UI disappear while you’re not in combat. It could even work to where, while you’re not in combat, if you wish to look at something specific like the mini map, skill bar, or quest logs at the top right, you could move your mouse over where they normally would be and they would reappear, and then when you move your mouse off of them they disappear again. Or, as a possibly simpler concept, add minimizing buttons to each part of the UI.

If nothing else, I really do not want to be stuck staring at my quest logs the whole time. They’re useful, yes, but I would rather just check them in my actual quest menu than have them permanently locked up there, maximizing themselves every time I use waypoints and such. You can’t even get rid of the Winter’s Day WvW thing by completing something since it just links you to the website. It’s just useless words clogging up the upper right corner of my screen, where the sky, distant mountains, and tops of trees are. Just give us the option to enjoy the game’s beauty without having to sacrifice gameplay/combat efficiency.
