Running a pair of overclocked 6990m’s. In cities and such the turning is horrible when the client is first loaded. My cards are pinned at 98/99% utilization on max settings so I kind of expect it.

In open world they run fine. Is this just in the cities or in open world as well?

How hot is it getting?

I have the m18x and the 6990m’s get to about 82 deg C (23 deg C ambient) after a while. The max temp is about 100 deg C before damage occurs, so long as they don’t go any higher than 85 @ ~ 100% usage I would not be too alarmed. The second card on xfire heats up about 8-10 deg C more than the other but stay well below 90.

For comparison a self built desktop with a GTX 680, 16GB Ram, SSD and a few other toys would run me around $1500. The alienware is rather expensive being upwards of $3000 depending what you put in it.

Pretty much any high end “Gaming” laptop is going to come with a massive premium; eurocom, falcon, and even the gaming versions of Asus and MSI.

The only benefit it has over a desktop is the fact that I can game anywhere in the world, which for my line of work is pretty much a necessity. If you don’t need portability go for a desktop. Otherwise the alienware is a decent compromise.

Everything maxxed, game pretty much runs 60+ everywhere (vsync on). A few areas drops down to high 30’s/40’s but overall just as good as my desktop.
