@Raiz, for 20 vs 20 when not playing glamour I in the past favoured shatter cat heavy and stay in the mele train. For zerg vs zerg when not play with guildes I took the role of thef/rogue and helped em pick of weak players.

Now to your question thu, what to fill the role of the glamour mesmers range dps for group fights, I do experementing with a spec for this, its a direct dmg GS spec and I so far like it alot, It also have good group fighting utilitys, using feedback/reflections + mass blind enemy teams. I will give more nfo later on this.

Gs is a wery good range weapon.

For torch I have tested it, it was a weapon of choice in my first shatter condition build, I think it has potensial but the image need to be looked at. If it instead of cast nerfed confusion could cast a 1 sec stun or a 2 sec immobelise it would fit perfect into several different builds. Not al our offhands need to do major dmg to be usefull, more interesting if they let the tortch be a utility/controll weapon, the fact mage cast confusion show this light been Anets idea but as confusion is weak as it look now better give image a controll attack.

As far as tiers of classes go this is generally how things are perceived right now:

Tier A:
Mesmer – Strong duelist with high burst damage. Slow, yet mobile when they need to be(Portal/Blink). Useful in all team comps and all maps.
Guardian – Strongest bunker, but not mobile. Useful in all team comps and all maps. "

Uhh, I think you could argue who is the strongest bunker between Mesmer/ Guardian :P

I just wanted to say..
First off, great guide. This build and your Mesmerized Podcast made me want to start leveling my mesmer again and drop my glass cannon, full berserker, guardian/ranger.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I will be using this build for smaller fights like you said( less than 10 people on each side ), and Kylia’s glamour build for Zerg vs Zerg.

However, I’m not to sure which would be a better leveling build:
A pure shatter glass cannon build like Osicat? Or your phantasm-supportive build.
I’m trying to hit 80 as fast as I can so I can start gearing up for Immortal build
