In what situations would it actually make any sense to use D/W in PVE, over Staff (i know D/F has niche usage, no need to involve that).

D/W has slightly better mobility than staff, two blast finishers, and heat sync.
D/W has worse range, worse aoe, worse optimal DpS, worse CC/break and worse healing than staff.

When and where would it actually be worth the loss of all that? I see lots of D/W eles in maguuma, usually in the process of being dead or running in circles trying to kite stuff with their terrible range and lack of CC. Is it a raid-specific thing, or are they (often 169-mastery players) just doing it wrong?

Ok, i know this will draw all sorts of QQ about meta and tons of uninformed opinions – if you are not able to back up with a little actual logic or evidence, aside from “some guide says”, please refrain from posting.

This happens to me fairly regularly, restarting the game tends to fix it.

Windows 10 and 7, newest geforce drivers, 550 ti and 750ti.

Basically, GW2 hates GPUs and frequently switches to all-CPU rendering for utterly no logical reason (it already uses CPU very heavily, and seems to go berserk on quad-core processors as well). There are a lot of threads on the topic, changing your drivers usually fixes it. There are also some settings you can adjust in your system to make the game better utilize CPU and GPU resources.

I just got a wupwup chest as a drop, and am looking for advice on what weapon to get.

I currently play elementalist and mesmer, and am working on guardian and ranger (mainly for druid). I have heard all of these can make some use of celestial-stat weapons.

Converting a weapon to a different stat is definitely an option, if nothing really benefits from celestial currently.

I have been considering a scepter or staff for ele/mesmer/guardian, or a bow for druid/dragonhunter, but zerkers looks better for a DH longbow. I already have a zojja’s claymore for guardian/mesmer.
