Apparently during the BWEs they hadn’t decided on the exact amount of the “tax” to be in final game. It’s remained at 10%, thankfully, some ppl reckoned they experienced up to 30% tax. Several people, including myself, asked them during the last BWE to state somewhere, either in TP ingame, or on forums/website, what the exact purpose of the tax was. Just so we had it in writing and then couldn’t complain about it. No joy yet on that. Though several staff members did comment on it.
The only justification for it atm is that it is purely a gold sink, to take gold out of the game. It serves no other purpose.
15% overall tax is a bit steep imo. They should either charge a listing price, or a tax, not both.
Thanks Kayg, that makes sense and I kinda figured that they were using it as a gold sink. To be honest I don’t think there’s an issue with having the gold sink as it is a necessary part of keeping the economy in working order, I just wish that the tax wasn’t hidden and quite such a large percentage.
So it is my understanding that there is a 5% listing fee and a further 10% fee on an item once it sells.
I was just wondering if anyone knows what the rationale behind this is? The 5% trading fee is something that I wish wasn’t there but at least it is shown. However, the 10% hidden fee seems a bit overkill and kind of underhanded to not have that listed somewhere before an item is put up for sale.
