I’ve had the game since launch but a week afterwards my computer died and I’ve been without until earlier this month. I’ve decided to come back but I want to start a new character. I have a lvl 44 Guardian, but trying to pick it up and play it again is really difficult since I feel like I’m a noob again so I decided I would start a new character.
I got an elementalist up to 14 but I really struggled with the squishiness and dying all the time. I then tried. I then got a warrior up to lvl 15 and a ranger up to 10. I’m really enjoying both the classes but I’m trying to decide which fits my needs most.
I am a mostly PvE player. I might get into WvW at higher levels but PvE is what I normally do.
I tend to solo a lot, but will group up later for dungeons at some point so I want a character that is beneficial to a party as well as to myself when I’m questing.
Before you say “play them both” my time is limited, so I would like to maximize my play time on 1 character rather than spreading it between 2. I do intend on getting playing the other classes I have, but I need to pick one for now.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
I tend to use fire and water the most, but I do mix in air and earth depending on what is needed. Like earthquake to knock stuff down and fire to finish or damage them.
I use as many skills as I can during a fight, not just auto.
For utility skills I’m currently using Glyph of Storms and Arcane Wave.
My first 4 trait points, 2 are in fire and 2 in Arcana.
Area I’m playing in is Metrica Province. Its hard to say what mobs give me trouble. 1v1 nothing really gives me too much trouble, its when there is more than 1 that things start to get really hairy.
I’m starting to get really frustrated with the class. If I have to fight more than 1 mob, the odds are I am going to die. My gear is pretty much up to date or within a level or so. I’ve tried d/d, s/d and staff. I dodge and kite and what not as much as I can. So is this normal or am I playing the class wrong?
Any help or advice would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance
Under traits you have fire, air, water, earth and arcane. Do you get enough points to level them all up? I assume you don’t and you have to make choices about which trait to focus on. That’s why I’m asking.
I’m just starting an elem and I’m confused about exactly how I should be playing one. I’ve read quite a few posts and it seems like everyone has a different opinion. I’ve played countless RPGs and MMO’s over the years and that is the basis of my confusion.
Should I focus on one element to put my points in, or be switching from element to element? In other games I’ve played, spreading your points out among too many powers leaves a character weak in the end. Is that the same here?
Just a little confused and looking for some guidance.
Thanks in advance
