Using limiting methods to acquire higher stat gear for your characters is getting extremely frustrating. I’m not usually one to complain for this game, generally, I just accept and get on with it but I’m sensing a pattern here.
An easier solution would be to make acquiring gear you want through a variety of methods, and not just one particular method to get players doing particular stuff again.
To now get earrings of highest stats, players must grind their lives away daily and have a spare 50 ecto laying around. Fair enough, if this was one option, but where are our choices? Obviously we cannot ignore these new earrings, as exotic accessories pales in comparison. So we have to grind, which I believe was the opposite of what you were once apon a time trying to achieve.
You added getting these earrings through daily quests (as not enough people bothered with daily before, what was the point?) or guild missions (a very, very expensive method and only optional for large guilds who bring in x amount influence a day). I’m gathering you went with guild mission, because despite this being guildwars, not much guild activity is really required. It’s not incentive to have guild pride, large guilds, or even guild…. wars. Honestly, guilds just feel like an extended contact list.
Okay, so back to the point. All this new gear needs to be availible through a wider range of methods. Like posters have said, fractal relics would be a nice way, god forbid actually giving pristine relics a purpose after you’ve bought two rings. And I think using guild method was quite frankly a cheap tactic and definately was not considered at all for smaller guilds. Some people like small guilds, and the fact you’ve done this will probably see a lot of them disbanded due to people needing their guild merits for rings that can only be acquired otherwise through expensive and long means.
I just feel like we all log on to sit and click skills (on a skill bar we cant change bar 4 moves, dont get me started on that) until… oh, look, need this higher gear. Lets sit down and do chores everyday so we can get it. It’s chores, it really is.
TLDR; Stop throwing shiny things at us that lets face it, we know we NEED, through activities that have been lacking in your stats department. People were not doing daily for a reason, its boring. And reconsider the costs of these guild merits, as i’d hate to see our smaller guilds melt away into the pressure of gear requirements.
