A friend and I have been having an issue with, and only playing this game, the entire PC freezes for a second comes back, freezes, back, and happens maybe 4 times or so…. never crashes the game, or PC’s.
Not sure if this is the same issue you’re having.

I hate to say this, but try having the game load off of kitten drive. I can switch maps, waypoints, and load into the game in under 10 seconds most times.

I downloaded the current patch, not sure of the size, but it was a fairly large one for the new content, and I have to say it was top speed for my tier of internet. I have a 10Mbps cable modem, and was getting a consistent 1.15 – 1.20 MBps which is right on par.

Try running a speed check from Speakeasy.net. Select a few of the different servers, clear your Cache after each test.
You can also try downloading from your ISP, Some have setup programs for email, Web content, and so forth. You don’t have to run it, just as a test to see what the speeds are.
