Not in any way to dismiss those still with FPS issues, I would like to post that my own FPS seems to have recovered from a dismally low FPS back up to around 60-65 over the last three days(for about a week prior to that it dropped to the 5-8 range). If arena.net quietly made some fixes in updates thank you very much!

I expressed my unhappiness many times here over that week of unplayability and I thought it appropriate that I come back and post that I have seen improvement and the game is running well(again).

I hope that this stability continues and that others have seen similar improvement…if not, good luck to all of you.

Day 7 of this FPS mess….still all quiet on the arena.net front. Just sayin’.

Any updates from arena.net staff on the FPS drop? I am looking at day 6 of not being able to play a game that once ran perfeclty on my system(and there are a nuch of us awaiting a fix).

Just so you know this is a large scale issue that many of are suffering through(currently not able to play the game due to VERY LOW FPS) so you are not alone. I do not believe it is your system, I am confident the issue is on the arenanet side. Many of us played the game perfectly on our systems and saw the FPS crash a few days ago.

We are praying arena.net is taking the issue seriously, but with each passing day I have my doubts.

Still baffled by the number of people who respond to low FPS threads as follows…
1. it’s your system
2.the game is CPU dependent

Many of us facing FPS drops ran the game FINE until about 4-5 days ago and then it all went to hell. If our system ran the game perfectly before…doesn’t it stand the reason that system specs are not the issue?

Day five of an unplayable FPS of 5-8 with no end in sight. When this game launched I enjoyed a FPS of 55-60 it ran smooth as silk on high settings….then it slowed to molasses for no apparent reason.

I know I am not alone with this issue but from the miminal reaction by arenanet and no suggested official solutions for the better part of a week, I am losing faith. Do they hope all of us with this issue(very many people, btw) will just go away or something?

Driver updates, system cleanings, game patches…nothing has fixed the issue…and I just hope arena.net is taking the issue seriously. I LOVED this game…I had nothing but praise for it….now it’s a mess. The slow tech support response to this issue may belie a company that is overwhelmed, and isn’t quite ready to launch a game this big. I was such a fan of the game, I don’t want to lose faith…but the silence on arenanet’s end is deafening. This unplayable game will soon become a shelf warmer at this rate. .I hope arenanet isn’t thinking “We got this guys $60 so who cares” right now…cause it’s the vibe I am getting.

Just to be clear, please don’t think the FPS drop is only a result of the latest game patch. I am not saying it has not hurt some people, but myself and many saw dramatic drops(after otherwise fine perfomance) around a day or two before the latest game update.

I noticed a drop from 55-60 FPS to 5 to 8 FPS the day before the latest patch as many did….so unfortunately I don’t think the issue is as simple as a single, faulty game update.

Tried it…..didn’t work for me either. Glad the OP had success but doesn’t appear to be a fix all.

I don’t think its your system….mine is over specs and running fine but my FPS has dropped into the 5-8 range from 50-60 in recent days. You are not alone.

Like many, I was someone who had a system that ran GW2 perfectly(60 FPS, high res) until a couple of days ago when my FPS magically dipped to 5-8 FPS and it has yet to recover(as with many here, the game has become unplayable).

I also noticed odd startup behaviors for the game including the screen dropping and going back up a few times and an exceptionally long load time compared to a pretty smooth, quick start before.

Anyone having a sluggish/unusual game startup in additon to a dramatic drop in FPS?

Here’s the problem….I am one of those people. Two days I ran this game at 60 fps…logged on yesterday to 5-8 fps and its been the same ever since….and there are MANY of us facing this in the last 48 hours.

My system is clean….no changes to my system….but suddenly the game runs lousy….the issue for me, and many, IS NOT on our end.

I love the people who are like “buy a new video card”….or “upgrade your RAM” to the very same people who ran the game perfectly just a few days ago. Clearly if a large number are experiencing FPS issues who were fine before…the issue is not on their end. I may not be a computer specialist, .but that is simple logic.

Not only do I second “welcome to the club”, I am getting concerned about arena.net staff on these boards fingering something simple(like a Windows update for an individual user) rather than addressing the issue as systemic on their part. Many of us saw a dramatic drop in FPS in the last 48 hours….let’s not pretend that it all comes down to someone’s indivdual setup(as many of us who now find the game unplayable, had it working perfectly on our very same systems not 2 days ago).

I was really enjoying this game since launch with no FPS issues until an oddly weird load time yesterday followed by a lovely in-game FPS of 5-10. It’s almost blasphemy, but I almost wish at this time arena.net was monthly subscription because they would have an incentive to actually figure out what went wrong and fix it…but they already have my $60. Since from their descriptions of overloaded servers forcing a suspension of sales, I guess they sold more copies than they expected. I can only hope they care to support it for the long term. It was a great game….I hope it becomes playable again. You want $10 a month from me to make it so? You got it!

Many of us saw this inexplicable FPS on over-spec systems yesterday…even before the patch. This game ran beautifully for me before yesterday and is now unplayable…so weird.

Same, flickering start today post-patch. Beginning yesterday, games takes twice as long to load(involving various odd flickers are screen drops during launch) only to settle into an unplyable 5-8 FPS upon entering the game. Ran perfectly until yesterday…what happened arenanet?

Was hoping patch would restore FPS to playable range(the game ran perfectly for me until yesterday)….
Sadly, no change after game update. Still looking at a magical drop to a 5-8 FPS for no apparent reason.

Tried the windowed approach….
-there is no odd flickering or screen drops during loading when launching in a window
-in a window about 50% of desktop total size the game ran like it used to(yesterday/just fine)
-if I enlarge the window the game drops off in perfmance and becomes choppy again

This is so strange since there were no updates to the game(as far as I know) in the last 24 hours and suddenly it won’t run normally in full screeen for people? bizarre.

Thought I would give this its own thread since it is a SHORT TERM fix for many of us who, after several days of flawless performance, can no longer run the game full screen without slow FPS and choppy graphics.

On two threads I saw this suggested as a short term fix and it did indeed solve performance issues(but of course you are stuck playing the game in a mini window). I hope the developers can tell us why many of us suddenly can no longer run the game full screen and have to use this end around, temporary approach.

As I launch my game screen goes away and small, light blue bar appears across the top of the screen(anout 7-8 width). When my map art screen loads(Diessa Plateau for example) it even drops for a second reveaing my desktop and that same blue bar…
then i enter a laggy/choppy unplyable mess of a game.

Everything was perfect since launch….even played late last night. Get on this afternoon….broken. How is this possible with the game didn’t even get an update since them(if I am not mistaken)?

My issue is the same as Wiwaxia above described. Ran the game perfectly since launch.

Now, following weird flickering and screen drops on launch, the game enters the server with such a choppy framerate the game is unplayable. What happened between yesterday and today?

Not only am I getting the EXACT issue you described for the first time since launch…when I do finally get into a server I am so very laggy that my character hardly responds and the video is super-choppy. Something happened that made the game unplayable for me.
