I’ve got to get this off my chest.
-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that.
The price of reason is steep.

At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.
The amount of QQing here in opposition to mounts is appalling.
I greatly support this suggestion. Showing the unacquired skins in the wardrobe from within the hero panel UI would be a huge QOL improvement for basically every player.
QOL changes and updates really seem to be lacking.
You downloaded that hyped up unbalanced kiddy-ish wanna be rpg Korean grinding pay2win arcade hack&slash failgame of ncsoft? Thats funny.
Yet has four times the viewership on twitch…
Oh for Pete’s sake, I don’t know why this is difficult to grasp:
“Mounts” in this game, in their current state, amount to(pun unintended) no more than cosmetics and toys. They offer no benefit to any user but “street” cred. Mount-advocates don’t want toys, they want ‘mounts’ that look, play, and at the minimum, play the part.
Suggestion: Make all ascended gear equal in stats to exotic, in exchange give ascended gear the ability to change to a secondary stat combination.
And invalidate all the work and gold people have shoved into making their full ascended gear sets for stat swap abilities?
No.
Shouldn’t this be stickied?
Looks to be a pretty important thread.
OP: shut up. No one complains whether the price is steep. It’s the fairness for vet players and new people, who both pay the same amount of money but have all access, including all character slots, yet vets couldn’t even get an extra slot. Enough with strawman, now scram!
Get off your high horse. $$$ price the only why this discussion exists in the first place.
No. I don’t personally like them. I’d sooner make an Asura. I just don’t like the look or feel of them. If anything, I’ll be glad when the game moves away from them. They have to be the centre of everything since launch. It will be nice to see them take a back seat once we move on to the next dragon.
Since when were Sylvari in the spotlight? The last time anyone gave a serious look at the Sylvari, Modremoths weeds were popping up all over Tyria. For whatever foreshadowing that existed in-game before Modremoth awakened, it was ignored by all but the most intrigued.
nope human’s are the only race i’ll play, everything else looks so stupid, especially charr and asura, dumbest looking races ive ever seen in a game
Humans and by far are the dumbest looking race in video game history. Complete with their useless upright legs ‘n posture. Pompous aren’t they?
Definitely rolling a Sylvari Revenant.

Probably the same reason women like to play as men!
It’s a video game?! Should that matter? If someone is uncomfortable then they have bigger problems than wondering about who’s what at the other end of the avatar.

I don’t know why people have difficulty with this. People create characters for their own interests, not yours. There’s no reason for anyone to have issue with that, period.
No idea why this thread has gone on as long as it has because it doesn’t accomplish anything meaningful here.
I disagree with this suggestion. It would add TONS of clutter to an already cluttered interface. Letting us preview onto our hero panel would be a better suggestion, as we already have the wardrobe at the bank.
You have every weapon skin, every item skin, and every back piece skin then. In your hero window, the same thing you use for on-the-fly changes. That is a LOT of information to have for a new player, or even an old player. Like 5000+ options in a single small window. That’s not a good idea.
Using the bank, with all it’s larger interface and it’s better ability to be sorted, I think we should preview into the hero window. Just not have the options in the hero window themselves. Otherwise we’re dealing with too much kitten.
It’s different than minis or dyes, because there simply isn’t thousands of them. Minis are stored by what they are, and there is only 120 of them (give or take) total. Dyes are a similar story, with only a couple more than minis, each with tiny icons unlike weapons or armor.
Listing them all just doesn’t work, in addition to it constantly being a taunt that you don’t have every last weapon skin.
The problem you describe is a byproduct of the UI itself, not the suggestion. You seem to gearing towards an entire UI overhaul, something many of us are already demanding. In the meantime, all we want is a hugely immense and small change regarding skin preview. If dyes can have them, there’s no reason skins ought to be excluded.
I don’t get the impression Angry Joe stays long in any game. What he does is play and review new games as they come out and probably any expansions they have. Unless he has a lot of free time, whatever game he is currently playing in order to review is going to be the one he is going to main. This game has it’s good points and it’s bad points, like any game and he reviewed and pointed out what he thought those were. Then he left for the next game, just as he will leave the game he is currently playing to play and review another.
He is a reviewer. He plays, reviews, leaves. It’s kind of silly imo to say, well he hasn’t played in X amount of time so therefore (insert opinion Y).
Makes sense, really. As far as we know, this IS his sole job, and he has to make the most of his time very often I presume. I can’t imagine shelling out hours of GW2 game time while simultaneously doing the same for games that are released to provide an adequate, all-around, assessment of a game in its various factors. I believe in one of his videos he said he puts around ~60-something hours in a single game. Regularly reading and/or communicating with a said game’s community, all before he begins the actual review. Anyone who says he’s full of smoke, haven’t watched a real in-depth review, or are extremely complacent with 5-10min “impressions”.
The amount of QQing here in opposition to mounts is appalling.
The amount of QQing about those against mounts is appalling.
Indeed.
Skyrim has this “issue” too. Is their some weird complicated issue in adding additional meshes and textures for helmets and hats, regardless of a given character’s hairstyle?
To everyone else that’s commenting as such in this thread, “sexy” is subjective. One person may find super long hair attractive while another person may not, so to definitively say female human & norn toons don’t have bald options because “it’s not sexy” is fairly sexist, but I digress.
The point isn’t that it’s subjective. Subjectivity is irrelevant in that that Anet as power over what gets added in the game and the vast majority of males(and probably females players too) would likely play with female characters with hair, regardless of the length. The aversion for baldness being “sexist” is also presumptive, irrelevant, and insulting to males or females, given that character gender is not tied to a player’s gender IRL and/or social standing.
Also, we DO have chubby body types. They’re definitely more muscular than CHUBBY chubby, but there is an option for both norn and human female characters that are on the thicker side.
Realistically talking here, the biggest body types aren’t “chubby” at all, except one norn body type in particular. “Thick” is a better word here.
People chew them out because many individuals have twisted mindsets in that having yourself and others delegated to one task(dps, healing, or tanking) to clear a dungeon, pvp match, etc, is “fun”.
(edited by Geneaux.9547)
You bring any of those phrases in GW2 and you get chewed out. “Go play wow”, “GW2 was never ment to have them GTFO”
So what do all those naysayers have to say now that the devs has said that was never their intention. Now maybe when some players talk about the way they want portions of future content with maybe more emphasis on fights with roles they wont just be swept under the rug on the guise of “that does not belong in GW”
Please keep in mind that the devs were only against the the idea that a class can only do one thing well. That said, that does not necessarily mean that they outright favor a trinity system. They clearly believe playstyles of that style should be just as viable as anything else, just as long as the player has freedom to do other things that do not pigeonhole them.
