I’m currently running GW2 on a older Gateway P-7805u FX laptop and am wondering if it would be worth my while to upgrade my processor.
Here’s the specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 Ghz (I know…)
8GB RAM
gForce 9800M GTS (OC’d)
In uncrowded areas, I get 30-45 FPS. I get significant drops in FPS around Dragon fights and in WvWvW. The graphics card seems to be able to handle quite a bit of stuff (notably Skyrim with a variety of graphical enhancements).
I have been reading about the CPU bound nature of GW2 and was thinking that upgrading to a T9900 3.06Ghz processor (which I may OC to 3.2Ghz) will help
It’s cheaper than buying a new laptop. I know I could always purchase a desktop that’ll run it well for a reasonable price but I travel a lot. Probably only $200 vs the $1500+ for a new laptop.
Do you folks think it’s worth it?
