Well, I didn’t see any ‘suggestion’ subforum, so I’m throwing this idea here. Apologies.
Some of my friends have been playing GW2 lately and I wanted to join them. The problem is they are in the American datacenter while, back when the game launched, I joined an European servers to play with my friends in that region (who were the only ones playing at the time). I still play with them, so transfering my WHOLE account to the American datacenter isn’t really an option. Creating a new free account isn’t very appealing, either, since I’d lose all access to the dyes and armor looks I collected during the life of the game, not to mention all the perks given for having actually bought the game in the first place.
So I was wondering…wouldn’t it be nice at some point in the future we got a transfer system on a ‘per character’ basis besides the ‘whole account’ transfer system? So that we can play in both regions with our friends without having to start over completely from scratch? Because not having that option isn’t making me consider buying another copy of the game. Or spend money on the cash shop again. There’s no loss in money for the developers, there.
I’m not sure how you’d handle gold and other currencies if they implemented something like this, but I’d be fine with getting just a fraction moved depending on how many characters you are transfering (so if you move 1 out of 5 characters, you get a fifth of your gold/laurels/etc moved). I’d even be fine with it being determined by the level of the character (You are moving a level 80 character? You can move up to 80 gold! Or whatever). As long as cosmetics and other account-wide purchases remain available, I’m not going to be picky.
That’s about it. Can we get character transfers between datacenters one day, pretty please with a Charr plushie on top?
