Im interested to see how this build plays out from a direct Damage point as well as follow up condition point.
I want to be able to run my ranger with zergs as well as roam and this sounds like it will help with zerg.
Hi All,
I am just returning to game after taking a year off for real life issues and thinking about playing a warrior.
Before I left Warriors were in the top tier DPS and solid in WVW. I am curious where they stand now? Do they still hold up in WVW and how is there survivability?
I am looking for a build that is duel wield in nature instead of the classic GS/hammer build that seemed to exist in the past. The questions is how is viability with sword/axe or axe/axe style builds?
I have both warrior and guardian at level 30. While I had hoped i would like the warrior as to fit my play style, Im finding that I just cant get into it. while the warrior gs seems to be the all out damage mode, I just do not like the mobility it has.
The flip side is that I do like the mobility and survivability of the guardian but my concern is that when i roll into WVW will it fit my play style. So what im looking for a build for guardian that is GS based with off weapon as sword or sceptor (not sure which is better). Im not a fan of guardian staff play style.
I tend to like a good blend of dps and tank build any advice or links to a build that fills the bill of Greatsword/sword or sceptor + shield or focus would be greatly appreciated.
Personally I think Arena net missed the mark with longbow. Shortbow should be (and is) a mobile skirmish weapon. Not alot of damage per hit allowing for high mobility and controlling movement to give them advantage. Excellent sustained damage.
Longbow should be the opposite. More static long range and high damage per hit with great crit/damage spikes.
Abilities should be change as such:
LB1 – Remove increasing damage over range. Damage should be uniform across the board.
LB2 – Remains the same
LB3 – change this to a channel effect in which you hold down the key to build up charge. When channel bar maxes out it releases shot (3 second channel). WHile channeling you cant move if you move you release shot. condition and CD should be the same. the more charge built up in channel the higher the damage.
LB4 – damage should be increased on this ability for close range hit
LB5 – stays the same.
the key hear is that the opener (LB3) and meat of the weapon is doing an “aimed shot” by holding down the LB3 button to charge up a shot. this should be a devastating hit and define the weapon. Each second that the button should increase damage as a multiplier. The overpower affect of this is countered by both a 12 second cooldown and having to stand in place for a full 3 seconds for effect to be maxed out.
LB4 is an emergency shot and should work as such but should do more damage since it is restricted to such a short range and cooldown.
i tried a ranger, and it just didnt impress me. Dark Ages of Camelot spoiled me on archer classes and I have never been satisfied with an MMO archer class since.
I am trying an elementalist now as we speak and i can see how it is a versatile class allowing for changing play style which i do like that aspect. Time will tell though.
what are some good elementalist builds I can look at?
Right now i have an 80 guardian that I love playing. But looking for an alt to break up the play.
I am looking for a range based class that in wvw can hold their own in wvw situations for roaming. Also able to do decent to aoe damage and is fun to play.
I keep going back and forth between elementalist, engineer and mesmer. I am hoping i can get some good feedback here. Traditionally i have not played casters in other mmos but the elementalist and mesmer seem appealing. I know the elementalist and engineer bring healing support to the table but im more of a pocket healer. Will help with it but dont count on me for it.
I have also looked at the thief but that seems very single target oriented and limited in usability in wvw.
Any feedback is appreciated regarding play styles, dps output and fun factors
So i just found this build and must say that I really like it with a few exceptions. First, I went
30 Radiance (Blind Exposure [VI]/Powerful Blades [X]/Right Hand Strength [XI])
30 Valor (same as original post)
10 Virtues (Vengeful [II])
With Leap of Faith (GS), Flashing Blade (sword), and Ray of Judgement (focus) all applying blind, PLUS the natural trait in Radiance (justice is Blind) picking Blind Expsoure seems more beneficial. I can quickly rack up 15 stacks of vulnerability in a matter of seconds. This adds to the damage much better than working off burn condition. Throw in the fact that Renewed Justice resets Virtue of Justice and you are able to keep vulnerability up a very long time across multiple mobs.
Then the points in valor play off retaliation benefits.
Overall though this just became my favorite build. Thanks for the info OP!
