[Suggestion] Toggle Hide Function Gyro

Leveling my engineer was a lot of fun. Frustrating, sometimes, given the wide array of tools and gizmos we can utilize. Coming up with a Rifle/Flamethrower control and condition build was tricky, but I’ve managed to somehow create a magnificent synergy with the inclusion of Scrapper traits. The addition of the gyros and traits allowed me to create the perfect vision I had for my character while remaining useful and strong on the battlefield. He’s perfect.

… But that little whirling bathtub toy hovering just above my Charr’s majestic furred form is throwing off my groove.

I get it. It’s adorable. It triumphantly follows you along like a lap dog, obeying your every command and never leaves your side. It stands for everything a Scrapper should be; a master of machines and accomplished autonomic expert.

And so, a simple solution?

  • Just add a small check-box on the Function Gyro minor trait icon in the Scrapper line. (similar to hiding helms, shoulders or gloves) That’s all! This allows freedom for those who appreciate the visual of the gyro.
  • If it’s a matter of indicating whether or not it should be obvious that we still retain functionality of the gyro, add a buff indicating such.

As I said, I love the Scrapper specialization. But I also love the appearance of my character (especially in roleplay), and I don’t want to have to completely revert my specialization choices because of an arbitrary graphical addition.

I’m getting a weird buggy view of all your fancy HTML tags and code instead of the actual content on the “Wintersday Items in the Gem Store” page.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/wintersday-items-in-the-gem-store/

The text is still there; the images have poof’d themselves into [crazy things in parenthesis]. Might be just me, but it looks a little odd. :P

BUMP and support gifting gems!

I have several buddies that would love to play with the rest of our troupe while still maintaining benefits from a home world bonus, as they are on another server. Having the ability to transfer gems would help up out big time.!

World/Mini Map Details

Just a small suggestion list concerning the various forms of maps within the many zones of Tyria.

1. Make Party Icons Clickthrough-able… What I mean by this is I’ve found myself more often than not trying to hit a waypoint, only to find that my party member is currently stuck under one for various reasons (still loading screen, disconnection, tabbed out, etc.) and it’s a minor glitch but enough to raise the concern. I personally find it difficult to attempt clicking just outside the party icon but far enough within the waypoint icon to select it. Seems unnecessary to be able to click on a party member without anything happening, but unable to click what might be behind it.

2. 100% Completion … I’ve seen another player in game mention this and I thought it was an intriguing idea. Further incentive to get full world map completion would include free waypoint travel. I honestly think this would be well worth the time it takes to get 100%, and if ever zones are added to Tyria, there would be a massive inflow of people looking to reattain their free waypoints. Personally, I think it’s great, however it would move away from running in between locations and being less dependant on waypoints which, in early development stages, wasn’t the point of having waypoints.

3. Client Side/Party View Map Notes … It was in a discussion amongst guild member that we came up with this sort of idea. Something like a sticky-note that you could pin to the map and edit to contain text, either as a static object or like a yellow square you could mouse over and see the text you wrote. A secondary function would be that when in a party, you would see your friend’s notes as well. All of this would be toggleable of course, and would work very similar to how the personal waypoints do when in or out of a party.

4. Longer Lasting “Scribbles” … Fairly straightforward. Longer time to view drawn images on the world/mini maps before fadeout would be a help to those (myself) who use it.

-May add/remove to this list later according to changes made to the gameplay. I also apologize for the “wall of text” format of my post. :S

Gamepads/External Controllers?

in Account & Technical Support

I am unsure of ArenaNet’s take on using an external controller (such as a USB-connected Xbox/Mad Catz/PS3) but I could not find anything in the Terms of Service prohibiting the use of such devices.

Would these be considered a violation, as they are third-party devices, or just another way of playing the game? I know that other MMOs in the past have allowed the use of a Game Pad for extra hotkeys or controllers for a different experience.

And if it is a violation, specify why and how?
