What does Rata Sum have to do with this? By the way Metrica Province is connected to Brisband Wildlands and Celedon Forest and those are connected to other areas, so not being able to walk to Rata Sum just isn’t true.

But anyways, I support the map completion being taken out of WvWvW, I do no care about legendaries, I do care that there are people jamming up the maps who are not there to help the server at all.

- It’s upwards of 90% PvE only and the overwhelming percentage of map completion in WvWvW is on identical maps. Of course they can implement whatever they want, it’s their game but that seems kind of silly to me and I can understand why some people view it as a PvE achievement.

- I don’t think this is about Asura gates being used. I can be in Southsun Cove and waypoint to the Rata Sum Port Authority as long as I’ve discovered it, while I cannot even see the WvWvW maps unless I’m in WvWvW. They’re as separate as the sPvP lobby and yet they count for map completion.

You determine what should and shouldn’t be based on what you can and can’t see…

Have you considered that, the reason they’re not on the map is because there’s only a single waypoint in WvW for you to use per map… so it makes more sense to just have a button that goes there directly?

That’s almost suggesting that you should be able to teleport to the dungeons’ waypoints because you technically already discovered them before.

Stealth should get a counter...

Also look how the game works with it:
-Use stealth to blind enemy
-Use stealth to regen initative
-Use stealth to remove conditions
-Use stealth to regen health
-Use stealth to immobilize enemy
-Use stealth to apply bleed stacks
-Use stealth to interrupt
-Use stealth to %100 crit
-etc etc

The game screams that go stealth as much as possible yet they put a reveal debuff to fix the issue!!! Nonsense imho.

That’s called synergy and you SHOULD want to be stealthed. It’s the Thief class for crying out loud; you hide and you steal. If you’re not doing either of those things, maybe a class change is in order.

The idea is that you can’t be stealthed ALL the time but when you do, it has to be fulfilling. If you remove all the synergy that you just listed, the class would just be a poor-man’s fighter that can go invisible for 3 seconds once in a while.

As a thief, I love the reveal mechanic.

Food for thought: Most (if not all, with the exception of Cloak and Dagger of course) stealth skills have 30+ second cooldowns.

1) It is a PvP area
2) There is no way to walk into WvW from other zones. You must use an Asura Gate.
3) All PvE exploration can be completed solo while WvW requires groups to take points.
4) If one team remains first for weeks, other teams will have a hard time taking their points to get the exploration.
5) WvW is separated from PvE just like PvP is but we are not required to get PoI in PvP
.

While I really don’t care what happens with achievements, I find your reasoning to be REALLY poor.

- It’s not a PvE specific achievement… so the “this is a PvP area” mentality is the wrong way to look at it.

- Asura Gates do not definite what is and isn’t possible. Last time I checked, I couldn’t complete Rata Sum map without using Asura Gates…

- All PvE exploration can be completed solo… except for the World Completion achievement…. because it’s not PvE specific.

I think just saying that most of it is “out of your control” is the best way to convey the problem. Maybe World Completion shouldn’t include WvW but… man, most of the arguments (from both sides) are lame.

I think the problem with the class shows itself when people starts speccing with the idea that they should do huge burst of damage to kill and hope that they don’t die in the process… because that’s when Stealth becomes a problem. We can deal a LOT of burst damage and our “defense mechanic” is possibly the best of all the classes (at least it’s my personal favourite).

That’s when you have people complaining about stealth, and the thieves are complaining about supposed lack of defenses. You can’t nerf the damage because then thieves wouldn’t be able to kill, and you can’t nerf the stealth because then thieves wouldn’t be able to kill.

So ArenaNet has to find a way to discourage the “one-trick pony” play. It’s a valid strategy, I agree… but it’s not worth balancing for.

I’m playing a pressure/support thief and, while none of my stats really stand out (even my stats are sneaky), I do a very large contribution to the team so I really don’t see any real issue with the class. I think it’s perfectly fine as in.

But I see where the complains (on both sides) are coming from.

Stealth essentially 3(+1) seconds of invisibility that can be nullified if you keep swinging in the air. Most of the Thief’s arsenal comes from GW1’s Assassin’s profession that is practically all positional-based combat.

take thief for example and point me one that doesnt spam heartseeker and who can blame them the darn skill hits for up to 4k damage even on bunker builds and has no cooldown .

It’s an achievement. Since when do people think they’re entitled to obtain these without sweat and blood? God forbid Arena.Net for trying to get you out of your comfort zone, too.

Don’t like it, don’t do it… and to call it a game breaker (as the OP said) is just sad.

It’s actually not, it’s mostly a waiting game for people not remotely interested in WvW. People will simply wait till their server has the map and run around getting what they need. Also the puzzles do nothing for the server, but they do take away slots until those people finish porting their guild to the chest. Hardly a challenge. It’s actually a larger issue.

That’s like complaining that you have to wait a whole month to do a new monthly. If all it takes is time, what’s the problem? Are you suggesting that, if it was actually REALLY hard to achieve, it would be less of an issue? A lot of folks are in the mindset that it’s already impossible so…

If I can’t see it when I look at the world map by pressing M I shouldn’t have to go there for World Completion. Just sayin.

I already need 500 of the freaking badges of honor for the legendary anyway, there’s doesn’t need to be another arbitrary wvw requirement.

Playing devil’s advocate here, the same thing can be said from within WvW. I press M and all I see is 4 zones… I already have to level up to gain the abilities that I should have in the first place, so I don’t need another arbitrary PvE requirement.
