I think the ppt window broke guise. Halp me.
-1, needs more PPT.
Why do people always come onto these kinds of posts and say stuff like this.
“Oh, we are not even trying”
“Ooh, we’re burnt out from the 7 week season grind.”That is complete nonsense. AR is beating SF and Kpop at EVERY single turn. We are taking lead because our WvWvW game has skyrocketed. Yup, we are taking advantage of coverage gaps…but that’s not the entirely we’re wining. Hell it’s prime time for everybody right now and we’re still leading. Hmm. Crazy.
I’m only recanting the (generalized) sentiment in one of the largest wub guilds on SF — it has nothing to do with how well AR is playing. Clearly you guys are king of the hill now so please proceed to berate us with the usual ad hominem attacks and “lol coverage wars” rebuttals.
(edited by Gman.3789)
I echo the sentiments that a lot of us in SF are burnt out from leagues. A number of our commanders and serious wubers are taking a break and getting some neglected PvE in.
After obsessing over outcomes in leagues for the last 7 weeks I’m finding it nice to just hang out in wub and work on tactics and team-building. We held SM for ~7 or 8 hours yesterday despite some nice pushes for it — and even managed to get the shiny to full tier2 thanks to some great dual-pronged driving and cooperation with a bunch of pugs (another thing we have to work on).
Until we get this whole coverage wars thing figured out, I think most of us will be playing like this instead.
Since its now impossible for DH to loose, I would like to thank all the commanders and players who made this upset possible. Everyone did some really great work these past few weeks, and hopefully tonight we will get a good reward for our efforts.
“Upset” lol.
Yes, upset. SF beat us week 1 of leagues and from that point on was the favorite for second (and some people thought first). 90% of people, when asked, said SF would take 2nd (again, after leagues began). I refer you to the bronze league thread where nearly every prediction places Dh behind SF.
So yes, it was an upset. Also, rankings meant nothing kitten had placed higher against FC then Dh did pre-season. Even pre season it’s arguable that SF was the favorite for 2nd, once season started it’s not even debatable.
“Rankings meant nothing.”
> Implying BG/JQ should be bronze-league servers.
No I meant in that particular instance. SF had placed higher than Dh against FC and so were favorites over Dh, thereby making it so rankings were not considered accurate even at that time.
Face it man, you guys got upset. Don’t fight it. Your server may not have felt like you’d win, but everyone else (cept for some HoD folks) did.
“I meant in that particular instance”
> Facts don’t match my view of the world, so I will ignore them.
Are you reading my posts? I gave you facts to back up my assertion. SF placed higher against FC than Dh and so was viewed as a favorite over Dh. You’re ignoring my points, repeatedly, it’s dishonest.
Cheap 1 liners do not make a rebuttal. Try again.
To repeat:
-SF placed higher than SF against FC pre season.
-SF beat Dh week 1.
-SF beat servers like FC far more than Dh did, and thus was viewed as stronger.
-SF had been higher ranked than Dh until 2 consecutive losses to HoD.
-SF was repeatedly predicted by many people in bronze league thread to be number 2 over Dh.Those are the “facts” that you’re ignoring to preserve your world view. I suggest you shape up and stop letting wishful thinking decide your opinion. SF was the favorite, Dh was the underdog.
You are confusing the two words “perception” and “fact.” Bullet point 4 of your own diatribe very concisely demonstrates that. Well done!
An upset is, by definition, “an unexpected result or situation, esp. in a sports competition.” Expectations are, by definition, perceptions and while perceptions and facts usually correlate, they are not by themselves facts.
Everyone will admit Dh is stronger than SF. We are the stronger server, obviously. That doesn’t mean we weren’t perceived to be weaker, which is exactly my point. It is a FACT that we were PERCEIVED to be weaker.
gg
Whatever you say, chief!
Looking forward to rolling over your kitten guild on the battlefield again soon. Until then!

…literally melted or just simply ran away.
…I think you guys had to be pushing the siege deployment limit there!Booo! Poor sportsmanship! Please remember any zerg you faced last night from DH were made up of entirely PUGS. Our commanders do AMAZING work for what they are given and we held our own with the players that could be rallied. This would be like the Buckeyes bragging they beat a local highschool football team. Either way, we really enjoyed ourselves.
I’m extremely impressed with DH (biased). With very few exceptions, DH has been very encouraging and optimistic throughout this season regardless of our wins or losses. Everyone has been extremely forgiving and patient with the influx of new players and new commanders. I feel like this season has really helped our player base develop a better sense of server pride. DH may get second place in this season, but they got first place in my heart! <3 DH!
Not sure he was trying to be a poor sport. Our small group did get our kitten handed to us on several attempts. But our commanders did well to keep up what pressure we could until a few more showed up. I personally had a blast and enjoyed the fights. I’ve only been playing for a couple months, but have been extremely impressed with the leadership and patience DH has shown. Here’s to an even more successful next season!!
I disagree. Statements like that are demeaning and meant to be demoralizing. Again, they had organized guilds (and larger numbers) going against pugs. Bragging statements like that are nothing but a show of poor sportsmanship. My analogy still holds ground.
DH put up a formidable fight, while trying to to recapture it’s Bay. Many times that DH did meet SF outside both keeps, DH ended up pushing them back (not running away!) into the Bay. The times we really got wiped were while we attempted to recapture (at gates or Lord’s room). I admit that we got wiped and wiped often, but DH did amazingly well despite the odds that were against us and I believe gave them a run for their money. His comments reflect quite the opposite, as if we are all a bunch of helpless cowards who hide behind our ACs. That is far from the truth.
You’re doing a great job paraphrasing my sentiments. Keep it up, please!
yesterday was my day off and i enjoyed the battles for bay in dh bl at the beginning of SF prime time. i havent gotten to face the true prime time force SF has this week. but i have gotten to battle with star and cosa at odd times. both star and cosa are formidable, star a little more so, but i guess that can be expected with the turmoil in cosa.
I was on from 7pm PST onward and every group we faced on DH BL outside of your keep literally melted or just simply ran away. Was fun holding bay all night and good job holding garri…I think you guys had to be pushing the siege deployment limit there!
Agreed, primtime match-ups are entertaining just as they were with HoD; even ET is trying to throw a wrench into things.
I could really care less about the finisher the server receives at the end of the season considering I already threw some bones to Anet and got a spiffy one from the Gem Store. What I do hope doesn’t come to pass however (and pardon me if this is already been covered) is having the rewards from the season-ending chest tied to server rank. I think that completing the meta achievement to get the key is a sufficient barometer for measurable contribution to your server’s WvW efforts. Sure it could be improved to discourage the pure achievement farmers, but it’s a good start.
So lemme see, what this Darkhaven stepping their game up is about…. Hmmmm oh I see it, they’ve built more arrowcarts in their keeps, and more field ACs.
In all seriousness it isn’t a step up, its a sad spectacle, there is a reason I’d take another week of HoD over Darkhaven, you wanna know the difference? HoD actually, I dunno… fought, didn’t matter we were losing, they were winning, they fought us. Didn’t try any bullkitten field siege.
I miss having those fights with VLK or MU on any given night, and actually being fought with, not seeing twenty nameplates retreat into a tower.
And while the last thing I expected was those two guilds really even caring much about the match-up, their presence is interested in any regard.
I dunno I just loved how Darkhaven wanted to say they’ve stepped their game up, when I’ve had better fights with ET’s groups than Darkhaven, so step up or step down? And this is in all disregard for PPT, cause in Coverage Wars 2 its a fools game.
You can say we didn’t step our game up all you want, doesn’t make it true. You are having better fights with ET because you two are fielding a more balanced number of players, its hard to have a good fight when its just us running over you over and over with a 700 ppt.
Anecdotally, every DH group I’ve faced this week of measurable size has quite literally provided about as much resistance as butter does to a knife.
Also, lol @ Anet spending more time policing the forums than addressing their broken game mecahnics.
My unicorn is crying rainbow tears…RIP CoSA.
Dude, settle. I wasn’t stating that YOU said anything in specific. I’m saying that this is what has been happening since the start. Should we stop and tell people from our server to not come into WvW because we are playing ET? Use your brain, that won’t happen. Yes we have numbers, but if you run into a group of StaR, you are unlikely running into MASS numbers (unless we are running a pug group). You are running into a well thought out group of players who work well together. I’m sorry if you are being rolled over, but we aren’t about to tell half our server to stay in PvE to make ET feel better and stop complaining about our numbers.
Same goes for the rest of the major guilds in SF (ICC, LH, LORD, CoSA). Some guilds obviously run with more than others but even the largest generally only peak at 25-30 and even then, that’s only when they’ve called in everyone from other maps to push/hold a major objective.
I agree with Mosharn… You guys were good on week 4 because you had everyone on the game still thinking you could win the league. At week 5, you fairweather base gave up and you lost most of your number (thus why your week 5 was horrendous).
Numbers dictates this game. No tactics can win a matchup against a server that can easily overwhelm you.
In other words: ET can even try Blackgate tactics, but if SF just come and zerg us with big numbers and no tactics at all we’ll still lose.
I’m really glad you learned to express your opinion, and Imma let you finish, but SF manhandled your BL yesterday and you should get better instead of whining about it.
After getting together all 6 able-bodied WvW players, we tried for 3 hours to take back any of our keeps, but your blob of 40+ would track us down and wipe.
Switched to your borderlands, where us 6 once again tried to take a camp and then a keep, but it turns out you -also- have a 30+ zerg on your borderlands!
Took the 6 to Kain’s border then, and took some camps before finding out that even with the numbers you have in the other two maps, an entirely separate guild is rolling around Kain’s with 20 dudes as well.
Numbers are tactics, and thus, you are the superior players.
Hello there, my old friend, non sequitur.

SF Home BL #2 (aka ET BL) is feeling very comfy this afternoon. Thanks for the great fight at your Garri earlier!
Never before have I seen a group of people so mad. 5v1 such brave. very skill.
Stay classy SF
Cool story bro. Bunch of your fellow server mates doing that on your BL right now too.
Being the main Asian guild in HoD, a lot of times we couldn’t find a good enemy group to fight with. Not only in this matchup.
But this is the first time we do this, sending 10 Omega…
No hard feelings SF, we are just bored.Yea its coverage wars.

[Dx]And there we go, that’s the end of this week. In an NA server a guild on primetime papering everything while NA sleeps. So much for what has been a good match up thus far.
