Crafting the permanent skins: too much?

I have a theory that these craftable permanent Halloween skins are meant to be a sort of “equalizer” for the economy. Basically, giving people who are incredibly rich (by exploiting or otherwise) something that is highly desirable to spend a significant portion of their money on. It is also worth noting the ridiculous amount of gold, gem, and candy corn sinks built into the event.

I have given up on the notion of crafting one of these weapons, but I am farming the mats as quickly as I can manage and hanging on to them until near the end of the event. I am pretty certain that the price of the mats will start to spike as people try to ensure they have all of the mats they need to craft the weapons before the supply is cut.

I don’t see the connection between the gathering nodes and diminishing returns, which I’m pretty sure are not implemented for gathering nodes. And aside from cooking as a special case, the stuff gathered is mostly basic materials that you need an abundance of to level up a craft. The two most valuable of those, ancient wood and orichalcum, are rare enough that the materials still sell for quite a bit on the trading post.

Crafting of fine/masterwork/rare items is mostly gated by fine crafting materials, which are dropped by mobs, not gathered at nodes.

Then people will just be asking “why isn’t ANet doing anything for Halloween? Where’s the community, man?!”

The developers can never win, it seems. =P

Apathetic and unfriendly players on Cursed Shore

I’ve found that the “helpfulness” of other players has been inversely proportional to the level of the zone. That is, in low level zones, there are a lot of genuinely nice and helpful folk. High level zones are full of trolls, and I don’t just mean the ones in Frostgorge Sound. That is to say nothing of the bots.

My theory: players are getting jaded/embittered at level 80, probably in frustration at the tedious grind to get exotic armor and legendary weapons. They therefore give absolutely no kittens for anyone else.

Honestly, I think just the awareness that there IS a DR system in place is almost as destructive as actually having one. Are all of you REALLY hitting DR or are you just having bad luck? It’s a legitimate question; bad and good luck does happen.

Flip a coin an infinite number of times and eventually you will find a continuous streak of 100 of the same result, despite how ridiculously small the probability of such a streak is.

Glory booster doesn't seem to actually boost glory.

I think you might be confused. The bar at the bottom of the screen, which shows your progress towards each rank, is not your glory. Glory is the points that you get at the end of each match (for taking points, kills, etc.) that you use to buy rewards and such.
