I’m looking for build advice. I used to play a Mesmer, then when Heart of Thorns lured me back into GW2 late last year, I made a new character (Ranger) to get back into the swing of things.
The Ranger felt pretty durable to play, particularly with the pet for enemy distraction. I soloed my way through to 80 and the Living Story S2, and even soloed a couple of early fractals (which felt like an achievement to me, though I’m pretty sure it’s SOP). But then I realised that I really preferred the look and style of my Mesmer, so I brought her out of retirement.
She feels squishier than the Ranger in Silverwastes and HoT storyline – though I am quite willing to believe the problem lies with my build and/or lack of skill, rather than something inherent in the Mesmer class.
I’m currently running Greatsword + Sword/Focus, and traited Illusions 1-1-2, Dueling 1-1-3 and Domination 2-3-1. Utilities are Ether Feast, Blink, Signets of Illusion and Inspiration (my lazy perma-Swiftness combined with Focus 4), and Time Warp. I am still working on unlocking all of the Chronomancer spec.
My armour is rare quality Berserker, and I have Ascended amulet and one ring, the other jewellery is exotic, mix of ruby and emerald. My weapons are exotic Power/Precision/X.
Please let me know if there’s anything obviously wrong with this (and if so I would be keen to hear alternatives), or if I’m just playing it badly! Or do I need to finish getting Chronomancer to be tougher?
