if the Battle Standard skill is used, the animation and sound for the banners appearance still plays, despite it being cancelled – dont know if its supposed to be like this or not, but i doubt it:

I am a banner warrior, who uses a 1h Sword + Warhorn / Longbow.

I am sure I can say more, but this should give you an idea of how to use banners effectively.

+10 for AOE healing/support warriors! my build is exactly the same, but i use a mace for the interrupts, handy in dungeons, using all P/T/HP gear, then using the longbow fire field to place down up to 12 stacks of might from the banner blast finishers

Only 330 with heaps of healing power!? No offence but what a waste of a stat, I thought for sure a solid commitment to healing power should double/triple it’s effectiveness as it does when you commit to any other stat.

makes sense, i wouldnt mind it being increased, or ascended gear and legendaries having healing power (as none of them but a pendant gives healing power!!) and only 3 dungeon gear sets give healing power, but its a consistent 330 over a period of a minute and a half, plus 1k every 10 seconds which im sure makes a difference, my warhorn skills also convert conditions to boons AOE, which is fantastic, gaining retaliation and even aegis at times, and in some cases in PVE the healing can actually slightly counter monsters incoming damage, so its worthwhile, but i just wanted something that was abit different to the standard glass cannon build, as i was annoyed at always being on my butt in dungeons unable to do anything

depends on what racial skills you want! both types have uses, i went for norn (cos i like character looks to suit classes, except on my norn necro, cos thats just hilarious!)

ok, i was referring to battle standard for warrior lol, called it warbanner as i havent heard of any other banners besides ones that guilds can place down, i was in a rush to get a quick paragraph in to back-up evidence that elites are not completely useless.

i use banners for their aoe which in my spec heal for 300 every half sec and the banner heal skill heals for 1k, which can be used every 20 sec i think (havent been on in a few days)

ive found that being supportive heavily compromises any damage, unless you heavily/often use the longbow with its fire field and its finishers, im using this build currently:
http://www.gw2build.com/builds/ultimate-support-warrior-pve-dungeon-banner-5741.html – mainly for dungeons, as it gives banner regeneration, as oppose to shouts, but im assuming it would work in wvw or spvp too, as its fantastic for AOE, and decent for survivability.

you can use your longbow blast finisher (Arcing Arrow, slot 3) for mixing in AOE healing from the elementalists water field, or condit. removal from a necromancer, and i also use banners in the warriors fire field to add 3 stacks of AOE might per one put down (3 banners+Arcing Arrow = 12stacks), make a strong note however that using that build will heavily cripple your damage, im lucky to get over 2-3k crits at times, but im fully stacked with healing power

The elites are complete garbage, because warriors are one of the classes that do have some really good elites on their own.

OI! take a step back here mate, im playing as a Charr AOE healing and support warrior, the warbanner can revive up to 4 downed people at once when used (as far as i know, havent fully tested, did it on a group event zerg ressed a few), now thats FAR from “complete garbage”!!! then it gives a 307 heal tick every half sec, if used in the right places, it can be epic!
