Not played for long myself but I really think the revamped talent system is a bad move for the game. It was a relief to see a talent system that didn’t force you play a specific build. I reminded me of the diversity that wow once offered over your builds and gave you the opportunity to make obscure builds that mabye only worked for you. That’s gone now and it feels like your pretty much forced into playing a linear talent system with very little diversity.

In my opinion the biggest mistake blizzard with wow was kittening up the talent system at the end of wotlk and look at the state of the game now! If you continue to dumb down your game it can only end in one way!

Its funny how

Every class is defending how ridiculously OP they are at the moment! The damage really is out of control, it actually takes longer to kill a downed person than it does to down a person. Just stop with the “oh we’re not OP & you just need to l2p” your not amazing or have suddenly developed some amazing ninja skillz in the past week the game just become insanely bursty with no real skill involved to blitz something from 100% to 0 in a few secs.

Is there any logic to spvp in this game?

So I’m new to GW2 and have been levelling a Guardian (58) and just recently starting doing a bit of spvp. Before I start I’m not new to the genre and have played various mmorpg’s over the last 10 years or so and have always been into mainly pvp.

Now my question is about the way pvp is structured in GW2? Is there any order to the chaos or is it always like this? I find the mechanics very clunky and almost all matches I play in feel like a massive zergfest cluster**** with no real control over actually outplaying another class/team. It feels like the matches are based on massive amounts of burst damage and control with very little time to actually react whats going on. Theres a huge amount of aoe abilities and in the midst of all this carnage its down to who can out dps the other team in the shortest time possible. Its also extremely hard to follow what players are doing individually due to the huge amount of visual spam thats happening on the screen from all the spells and abilities.

I’ve tried a few different builds and theres has been a few games where the pace is slower but overall its quite messy imo. Between all the Boons, conditions, slows, snares, knockdowns, aoe, damage, stealth, mirror images, knockbacks & healing I really find it difficult to believe thats there is any structure at all during these team fights and its purely based on how much damage can be laid down in the first 5 secs. Its not the fact that the game has all these different mechanics, but it just seems like they all happen at the same time in a very small area that makes the pvp seem very messy.

Anyway I will keep plodding on in the hope that I will have gain a better understanding through time.

Any thoughts or experiences on matter that might give me a different outlook on the way spvp works are welcome.

Cheers
