So imagine you are watching your favorite sport and your favorite team is playing. Now imagine something big is about to happen that decides the outcome of the game that others might (depending on how it turns out) be talking about for some time. Now imagine that your cable company shuts down their network to update or some such right then.
Just about the same thing happening here.
Not at all, the game did not even start yet here. That’s what you don’t understand. They said the patch was on the 28 PST (pacific standard time), that is between 11:59.59s pm PST of the 27 and 12:00 am PST of the 29.
path DR, 2hr timer. if you run the same path more than once in a 2hr window (account based) you have DR, i.e. run the path on second char right after and you will not get the full reward.
dung DR, run more then 5 paths (account wide) in 2hrs and you start to get DR on the tokens.
all times are kept based on when the dung ends.
Don’t think its working like you’re saying because I have been doing runs for the last 2 weeks and I never got that path DR unless doing it with the same char. I always been getting a DR after the 5th run.
This is what I was getting doing runs with 3 chars and only make the run one time on each char…
- 60 tokens for each runs, up to 5 runs.
- On run 6 and more I was getting 1/2, so 30 tokens
The only time I been getting under 30 is when I was repeating a run with a char and was getting 20, but, changing char would solve this.
How is it working?
Been collecting tokens for 2 weeks now. Got 3 lev 80 so Im doing runs with all of them. I only make 1 of each path / char to get 60 tokens each time and not 20 and 10 if you repeat the same path. Even doing so, I noticed that I was getting 30 tokens on the 6th run. So I tought that the system was working on the entire account, letting you make 5 runs for 60 tokens and only half of it (30) afterward. I also tought that the system was on a 24 or 23 hours reset timer until today.
I started playing at about 8 am today (Monday) , did 2 CoF runs with my first char and got 60 tokens on each run. Then, I went with my second char and did the same, but, got only 30 tokens each run.
My question is, why am I getting 30 tokens on my 3 rd run in a dungeon instead of on the 6 th one like I was normally getting? Last time I did a dungeon was Saturday at around 1 – 3 pm so theres about a 44 hours gap.
Anyone know for sure or can someone from ANet explain how the system is working? It seems not to be working the same way everytime.
Well, by saying that its not ANet’s fault is not quite true. Sure, they don’t make people buy a particular item but they don’t prevent it either. The way it is right now, even help people make mistakes and there’s no way (from an answer that a GM sent me) that ANet can help. Like if they had no toll’s to do so. There would be no game if they had no tool’s to built it… anyway, lets go back to the topic : ) .
First.. Like I said in a previous post, they are preventing the people from previewing other type of items that a char cant use (like if it was something wrong) but they let them buy it (Like if it was “ok”). Where’s the logic in that?
Second… Why two different type of armors pieces, of the same gear slot, have the same name tag?
Let me tell you what happened to me… I went to the dungeons tokens merchants in LA with my warrior. At that time, I decided that I would work on both, stats and look of the armor, knowing that I would have to do the work twice so I can transmute the look to the stats later on. I went from merchant to merchant, trying every single pieces of exotic armor they have, to find the look I wanted, writing down the names of each gear piece. Then, I went on a tokens hunt for my chest piece (which took me a long time). When I finally got the 330 tokens needed for it, I went back to the token merchant selling it in LA. I looked at the notes I took from the start and saw, Inquest Breastplate. I then opened the merchant menu, looking for that Inquest Breastplate, found it, bought it. Then I opened my gear menu to equip it but I could not see it there. So, I opened the inventory menu and saw that it was there, moused over and then I saw that it was not of the right type for my char. At that point I was asking myself, how I managed to do that? So, I rechecked my notes, reopened the merchant menu and realized that there was two different type of armors pieces of the same gear slot having the exact same name tags. That’s, helping people make mistakes. If you don’t want to have all different names just had Heavy, Medium or Light in the name tag, (ex.: Heavy Inquest Breastplate or Medium Inquest Breastplate) that would help alot.
In that case, a confirmation window is not good. When I bought the Inquest Breastplate of the wrong type, I was 100% sure that it was of the right type for my char. It’s not a mistake, I simply did not know about the duplicate name tags at that time.
So is it my entirely my fault… I don’t think so.
I don’t think a game should let a person waste hours and hours of gameplay to make him/her learn something like that. That’s something ANet need to work on or at least help people with, when they are experiencing that kind of problem, instead of turning their back on them.
edited : Btw there’s no confirmation box. I tried both way “double left clicking and one click and pressing buy button” and I got no confirmation box on either way. Don’t know where you guys got that. There’s a box when you try to disenchant items of green and over quality but not on buying.

That would be great because I just did the same thing today.
I think its a must for that kind of game in which you spend hours and hours just to get some items. Because, if you make a mistake, you don’t lose everything. The game should not let you buy “soulbound on buying” items that is not of the right type for the char you’re buying it with in the first place.
The funny part right now is that you can’t preview an item of the wrong type, but you can buy it : ) .
The refund system should be limited “time wise” on recently bought items.
