A suggestion to make almost all pets viable

To make all pets viable and actually work; Increase melee attack range to 300. Increase base run speed by +20%. Decrease all non-attack cast times to 1/4s. Halve all attack cast times. Give pets the Playing Favorites mechanic as baseline. Done.

Additionally I would like to test out an auto 0.1 second taunt on melee hit by pet as baseline. This would mean that at least they get you detargetted – which is as it should be if a big animal was jumping into your enemies face!

Probably OP but would be nice to try

I will test “Lock Autotarget” as suggested by EazyPanda as an interim solution. Thanks for the tip EazyPanda.

Do older people play this game?

Looking for support for this suggestion for a simple enhancement so ANet put it into the game.

Suggestion: Please implement a keybind for “Untarget”

Reason:

1. Most people use weapons skills for escapes from foes as well as charging towards foes

2. All weapon attacks used to escape away from foes mean you have to detarget (or untarget) first or you end up turning 180 degrees charging back the way you just came – lethal in most cases

3. If you are in the middle of a large Zerg it is not easy to find a bit of free screen to click on to detarget

4. In addition some of us (well – me anyway) do not use WASD for movement but use a control scheme where we implement all movement onto our gaming mouse. So right hand is movement/strafing/camera left hand is for all skills & utilities etc. In this usecase in order to ‘mouseclick’ to detarget means we stop moving in order to do so (because you cant change the default of hold both mouse buttons to run forward) – again usually lethal.

5. There are alternatives allowing all mouse buttons to be bound to a more complex control schemes e.g. Mouse 2 is move forward AND Camera like some other games (ESO springs to mind) – but these would probably be more complex to implement.

So any others out there that would appreciate this small quality of life change?

Thanks for your consideration

@Lexander – just tested this with MH dagger and even if you are in combat and hence dagger MH autoattack is ‘active’ it still turns it off when you steal (which allows for the well timed backstab)

So I guess my point is that this talent produces inconsistent outputs across weapons MH dagger and MH pistol (and I have not tested Shortbow). Regardless of turning off the autoattack it should proc sneak attack, but does not

This is why I think it must be a bug and not working as intended….

There is a bug with “Hidden Thief” Trait/Talent (Tier 2 Shadow Arts) when you have a pistol as your MH weapon.

If you have adagger in MH this talent works perfectly (i.e. it stealths you and turns off your auto attack and provides you with an ability to do a backstab on “1”).

If you have a pistol MH it stealths you BUT then auto attacks immediately meaning you lose stealth and also it does not proc the Thief stealth pistol “1” skill “Sneak Attack” it simply does a standard auto attack.

You can replicate this bug at any time on training golems in the mists to test it
