I’ve gotten so fed up with all the nerfs we are getting. Why won’t they just re-do the whole profession altogether? Or replace it with another profession – I don’t mind trading my mesmer with a ritualist.

Wrong answer, Leo Paul. The answer we should go with is: instead of trying to remake Mesmer for GW2, they should’ve ported the original forward. Reasons include: they had multiple years of experience with the original spread, and as such, probably could’ve balanced it out easier in this game. By changing how Mesmers work, in general, they reopened a Can of Wyrms that could’ve been sealed by now.

Yea the gw2 mesmer feels so different from the gw1 mesmer (I also mained a mesmer in GW1). It would’ve been better if they stayed true to its mechanics. The ‘variations’ we have now are a joke compared to how versatile mesmers really are in GW1.

This is how i feel i keep coming back to the game cause i want to love it, cause i mained mesmer in GW1 but i keep leaving after playing for a day or two. They have nothing left from old mesmers. I figured con mesmer would be close to how my mesmer was. But confusion sucks in PvE so hard i just cba with it anymore. Very dissapointed with this GW2 Mesmer playstyle i loved degening or making them pay for casting attacking. Now i just spam illusions and auto attacks. I hate it and its failure in my eyes. 60 bucks wasted in my eyes

Something harder to play should feel more rewarding and thats not the case for me with my mesmer atm. Just extreemly hard to keep my Iduelists up (which basicly is never) And then when i do have them up i change to staff and they just died so basicly i have no damage for 10s… And dont tell me to go GS i dont want that i want to be able to play a build i want.

I’m a little confused, I haven’t used pistols so I don’t know why you rely purely on iDuelists for damage. And staff, if that is the “build” you want, typically does condition damage. If you’re using Sharper Images so that your iDuelist does lots of bleeding then you shouldn’t be without damage at all because even after they’re dead your bleeding and all your staff conditions are still ticking. But if you went power/crit then… Yes, you need to go GS. Using a staff isn’t “the build you want” if you went power/crit. It just doesn’t scale off those very well.
Either you change your build to fit staff better or you change your weapon to fit your build better, that’s how this game works. You can still pick the “build” you want but you can’t make staff a power/crit weapon just because that’s what you want. That’s just not what it is. None of it’s moves have high base damage, if they have any base damage at all, and they ALL apply conditions.

Im crit/Condition dmg for the trait yea. But the problem is my Iduelists tend to maybe if lucky get one round of cause ppl are constantly running around with bosses so the AoE’s get them or the phantasm runs in to AoE range and dies. And Staff is ok dmg but more so supportive use. I just want more dmg from myself now as Phantasms are a let down for me in PvE. For all i care they can remove them now.

I see. Yes, the phantasms die much faster, but what might help a lot is just spreading them out. I do find that I have a very hard time keeping 3 up at a time, but keeping 1 or 2 up isn’t too bad as long as I’m moving enough to set them down far enough apart that a single aoe won’t hit them all. I’d also suggest the torch phantasm. It won’t survive better, but just because you said you’re a condition build, I believe retaliation scales from condition and the extra confusion isn’t bad on most mobs. Plus the retaliation/confusion sticks for a bit even after they’re dead. Yes, they could use more tweaking, and yes it’s sad that they don’t feel more rewarding. But that’s support in general. You’re not going to see big numbers on staff for mesmer the same way you won’t see big numbers with an elixer gun on engineer. The stuff you’re doing is still very useful. Just very behind-the-scenes.

I dont expect big numbers with condition damage build, and i do spread them out but they tend to get one shot still i mostly run TA Exp Only boss i had 3 up was the last boss first path before they fixed him… And i play a engineer elixer gun cause of the weakness and healing and some what dmg.. I like that sort of play but i can see it make a differnce. And torch as far as i have seen isnt that great cause confusion is based on the boss doing alot and if it doesnt get a chance for that it does no dmg at all. The bleeds do dmg no matter what atleast. I guess my problem is the whole behind the scene feel like i have barely a impact to it all.

I loved the GW1 mesmer so much i felt in control as well in PvE as in PvP and thats what im missing now the feeling of control over the battlefield and i cant find that. Just so far dissapointed in the mesmer probably cause i been waiting for the game and this class for so long and reading up on it all rly looked amazing made it more in my head then it rly is.

I aint going to give up tho i love my mesmer and i trust Anet to fix it moreso make it balanced for PvE and PvP.

I wouldnt of cared abt the change if the phantasms rly felt like they said they would, like living hexes. But now there just my main dmg dealers that die extreemly easily XD And i have no dmg myself

Dixa, that just sounds like there is only one way to play this game and if you dont u suck. I love being a condition damage dealer. And i know it will hurt my AoE and im fine with that. But remarks like that just are a waste.

no, that’s what you and others like you are saying and now that they added a measly 3-4 seconds to your phantasm you can’t play that ONE WAY anymore

I could barely pull it off in Exp mode as it was on bosses cause of AoE or mobs killing my illusions i aint saying it cant be played anymore. But i now know my dmg is even lower then before and i can barely keep any bleeds on the target and that as a condition damage dealer is a huge hit. I play sword/gun staff. And Iwarlock is nice enough with the conditions but i rather have 1/2 Iduelists up which was normal now its generaly the 1 i have up making me feel rather useless.

I know this might come over wrong. But i been playing IDuelist with the bleed trait in PvE went decent but they did die rather often but now the inc cd on them makes it even harder to do dmg as a condition dmg mesmer. Anyone got any advice i rly love con dmg in PvE but kinda feel like i aint doing well enough anymore cause of the Iduelist dying often and the inc cd. So anyone know a con build that works?

I don’t like the changes but the whole separation of pvp and pve concerns is stupid. I wish they would just come out and say this is a pvp game and pve is just there as something to fill in between. I’m tired of non pvpers buying and playing obviously pvp based games and then complaining about how pvp affects pve.

Answer me this why make suchs a huge PvE worlds with so many elements and dungeons with several ways to play them, if the game is pvp based? Seems like alot of work gone in to something thats in your eyes worth less then the PvP.

I rly loved the idea of phantasms and clones being the hexes from GW1. But now i kinda just hate it atleast in PvP. They just die to quickly and the CD is too long for them to be usefull. Kinda hoping for a weapon without clones and phantasms now… That has good AoE as well! But till then im loving my engineer

This is a joke.. Making PvE worse per patch. I rly hope they fix it soon. For now my mesmer can go collect some dust ill level a engineer for giggles. They seem to have more control support and there dmg seems alright >.>
