Preselected Teleport UI

Ever had an event pop up that you need to get done, but in the moment of it all, hit the wrong way point or spend those few extra moments scrambling to find the way point on the map to miss the event? I’m not sure if anyone’s ever suggested this, but maybe it’d be pretty nice to have a cash shop feature that enables a sort of button you can click on on the UI (maybe placed near the mini-map?) that expands and contains preselected way points for faster porting. Now there are a few ways to implement this that I can come up with.

1. Let it be a new, built-in feature, included in an update, but to expand the amount of preselected way points, the player must purchase expansion slots from the gem store.

2. Let it be a new cash shop item with a purchase price of 800-ish gems, with the optional expansion slots to be also purchased through the gem store.

3. Let it be a timed item, either with options 1 or 2 but without optional expansion slots and cheaper pricing than 2. E.g. such as something with a name like “Aetheric Teleport Sphere”, with multiple ways on how it may tie into lore available.

Also, have this feature either be with permanent account wide availability with no item slot used or needed, single character soulbinding availability, or as an item that when placed in the inventory unlocks the UI feature, it’ll be account bound, but sharable with all characters in the account.

In my opinion, a great way to implement this would be for it to be introduced as a reward for full completion of a living world update in the form of an account bound item transferable and usable by all characters of the account. It can normally be bought from the gem shop as well but the living story reward variant will have a faster expiration time. By giving the chance for everyone to experience this feature without the use of the gem store, enables everyone to freely gauge whether or not it is something they may want or need. The cash shop version would have a longer expiration timer, let’s say 1 month, with a price like 400 gems. Each saved way point should have the option to have custom text editable by the player, and make it so that if you hover your mouse cursor over this text it will display the way point.

Now why I do think this would be good for the game? First, there’s no way to deny that this feature has the potential to be highly popular because it may be used for many reasons. It may be useful for people who want to bookmark a frequented way point, such as a dungeon they run daily or a world boss event they complete daily. Maybe for a way point used often throughout the day, such as the way point for Lion’s Arch. Maybe there’s a view you like at a certain spot in the map in which you can use this tool to bookmark the nearest accessible way point to it. Maybe you need to meet up with a group/person later at a certain way point, such as for weekly guild bounties or social gatherings, and set the custom text to remind you.

This feature will be good because it is not something that is needed by everyone, but it is not game breaking by allowing any real unfair advantage against those who choose not to use it. By having limited amounts of customized save points, people will still have to use the map regularly, but will just have the option to easily access a select amount way points that are of personal importance to them. To add more value to this item, it’s possible to set discount or cheaper flat rate prices for the teleport fee to frequented locations. However this wouldn’t be majorly unfair to other players, as you’d still have to spend gems to buy the item in the first place, and the fact that it does have an expiration timer balances the fee differences between those that do use this tool vs. those who do not.

There may be some things I have missed or overlooked, but all in all this is something that I can see that the game may benefit from.
