Hi everyone! This is my current situation: I used to be a pretty active player, but I haven’t played much since, about, a couple of months before season 2 started. There were various reasons: my clan got disbanded, I had other things to do, you know, the typical stuff that makes you stop playing an MMO.
Thing is, I wast mostly a PvE player, and most of all I liked doing dungeons and fractals. Since I didn’t have that much time to play, I decided to focus wholly on my main character, a human warrior (yeah I know, it’s so mainstream, but what can I do about it, I’ve always loved the idea of a regular human guy fighting against magic and monsters with only his sword and his guts, ever since I got into fantasy). After trying different builds, I decided to stick to a Shouts build with a Soldier set, Greatsword+Longbow. I have been playing since day 1, and back in the day it was a pretty popular build. It gave me what I thought was the most important thing in the kind of gameplay that Guild Wars 2 proposes: versatility. I used this build to jump right into the midst of battle and be able to survive even against the hardest bosses while also dealing a decent amount of damage and I could also support my team with my shouts. Even after warriors Strenght traits got nerfed, it was still a very good build both for solo and co-op play.
Anyway, I’ve heard that in the last few months, the game has changed completly. Friends of mine that have been playing the game until recently told me that my current build is now completly useless, that nowadays people just go with a team of 5 full berserker guys. They’re telling me that I can either go full berserker as well, or drop my warrior and focus on a guardian.
Is this true? What has been your late experience with dungeons? What kind of playstile is the most used currently? Is my old build still viable?
