Issues I have have with WvW XP

All they had to do is take a lesson from DAoC and split the WXP between attackers. Zergs would be a lot smaller, and small group wvw would be incredible. Then again, it seems like most of the GW2 player base prefers to zerg, so perhaps Anet is just doing what the bulk of the WvW player base wants. Sucks being the minority. :/

My guild has been away for a little while waiting for this so-called WvW patch. You just answered the question I was going to ask. Not really interested in logging in now.

Agree with you 100%.

Jang Gun nailed it for myself and my guild as well. And we started with less than 20 people. There are only a few of us playing much now.

The only thing I’ll add is that if there are any WvW rewards added for player kills, or even points from objectives, that those points should be SPLIT among the people that participated in the kill or cap. Why? Because this would help to discourage zerging.

Still looking to add a few more. We play as a small group most nights, and a couple nights a week we join forces with another guild (Knights Templar) to do a bit larger scale WvW.

Hi Semos. Sorry for the delay in response. The ‘subscribe’ feature doesn’t seem to be working for me. Anyway….

I’ll look for you in game. If things line up, we can talk.

Thanks.

A few spots have opened up since we closed recruiting pre-launch. We retain a small consistent base but could use a few more. We could use a mesmer in particular at this time.

Citadel is a small tight-knit guild focused on WvW located on Stormbluff Isle. Our philosophy revolves around maintaining a cohesive unit where everyone is familiar with each other’s playstyles and our overall group tendencies. We enjoy small group skirmishes, taking on twice our numbers or coordinating with other guilds to accomplish larger objectives.

We are currently accepting new members who are good at working as a team and also want to make friends. We are flexible with real life obligations, but being that we try to keep numbers low, new members should intend to play most nights of the week, on a consistent basis. Players with experience leading on the battlefield are encouraged to apply.

  • The age requirement to join this guild is 22+. The average age of our members is about 34.
  • WvW is our main focus in GW2. We will enjoy and partake in the other types of content but all members should consider WvW to be their main focus.
  • We play during US West Coast (PST/PDT) evening hours (approximately between 6pm – 12am PST).
  • We expect you to be in vent whenever possible while playing Guild Wars 2.
  • We do not allow members to be in multiple guilds in the same game.
  • We are a small guild. We keep a maximum roster of about 20 active members.
  • Being that space is limited, not all applications are accepted. We recommend being thorough in your answers.

Current class needs: Elementalist, Guardian, Mesmer, Ranger

About Citadel:

Citadel was formed in September 2008 for the game Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (starting on Red Eye Mountain and moving to Iron Rock). We also had a short run in Aion on Triniel. We have since been playing together unnoficially in several other games while waiting for Guild Wars 2. We are bringing back our tight-knit small guild approach from RvR in WAR, to WvW in GW2.

About our members:

Our core has a long history, spanning 10 years, in Open World, Objective-Based, and even Instanced PvP. Citadel members have set themselves apart in games like Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, Asheron’s Call 2, Warhammer Online, Aion, and Rift among others. There is no doubt we shall do the same in Guild Wars 2.

+1 hate

It’s frustrating as a small group to wipe out a chunk of a zerg only to see them bounce back up seconds later before you can finish them.

I have no prob with the slow rez for “dead” players.

Small-guild GMs: let's discuss our future

OP, I’m not sure my situation is any where near yours but I’ll go ahead and chime in for some possible perspective. This is only my opinion. I back those in this thread that want to keep their small guilds alive.

As to my background, I’ve been the leader of my guild since 2008. We have “officially” played in games which feature a heavy RvR or OWPVP component as that is our focus. My guild remains quite small.

Don’t settle for less than the type of guild you want to create. Merging is a bad idea unless the guild you merge with truly is made of members you’d want in your own guild. Otherwise you will end up with a situation where some are not happy, and if you try to please everybody you will only stress yourself out (and quite probably others). You may also find that tailoring your guild to make everyone happy dilutes the focus, purpose, and goals of your guild. Don’t just be another guild; be something special.

There are so many guilds out there with no focus or common ground among their members. That is not necessarily a bad thing (for most people, obviously) but if you have an idea of where you want your guild to go then define for yourself and your current members what exactly it is you want, and what types of people you want to attract. Identify all the things you agree on as a guild and build around that. Then highlight these attributes in your recruiting. Your guild will not be for everybody, but those that are looking for exactly what you have will eventually find you, and you will fill your guild with the “right” members.

If you do consider a merge, then define your guild first, then meet with potential guild leaders and compare notes. Interview them about all of the things that are important to you as a guild.

I happen to be OCD about clearing out the roster of the less-than-dedicated, so my guild remains quite small. After four years, our core is still around and we’ve picked up a few dedicated members along the way. We have a close bond and we are all on the same page about what we want out of our guild.

To answer the last question: How are you facing this?

It’s pretty straight forward for us. We can certainly WvW with only a few people if we have to and have fun doing it, though we usually field about 4-8 (sometimes more). We communicate with other guilds in WvW if we want to join in their efforts, or just fit in where we think best based on what others are doing. If we have to run a dungeon, we fill it with pugs. We are WvW focused, so that doesn’t bother us too much.

Anyway, not saying my way is right, just giving one possible perspective. Good luck.
