This is a great group of players, I’ve been running WvW actively with them since January, and they really know how to run a tightly coordinated force with top-tier tactical and strategic play. It’s amazing fun – come join us and help us dominate the battlefield!

Question on the requirement be in WvW in primetime, do you have to be online and in WvW from 5-10pm pst every day or just regularly during that timeframe and not the full 5 hours?

We don’t have crazy requirements, we know people have real life commitments and other interests, and treating this game as a job is a surefire way to burn out. As long as you’re with us in WvW for a couple hours a night, a couple nights a week, that should be fine. Though more is obviously better and some people do play 5 hours or more a day

The main thing is that we’re a WvW focused guild and we specialize in top-notch group tactics and map strategy, and we expect that to be your focus too. So if you’re online while we’re running an organized WvW group (which is most every night during NA primetime) then you should normally be with us, on TeamSpeak, following the commander, and running the skills our group comp needs – or scouting or running havoc, if that’s what the commander wants. And if there’s an all-call (e.g. to defend a tier 3 keep that’s in trouble) then all online members have to help right away – though those usually only happen a couple of times a week.

Caveat: I don’t speak officially for the guild, I’m just a member. But I really enjoy running with the guild, I do it pretty much every night. I burned out on PvE in 4 months, then started looking into WvW but couldn’t really get into it until I started following KnT around. So I joined up and have been a happy, active member for 7 months now

Investigation by Miyani bugged?

I’m seriously angry at the 3-4 hours of my weekend I wasted because of this uncompleteable quest and the bugs in the other “one day” and “one time only” events. An apology doesn’t really cut it. If you’re going to do time-sensitive events that force us to reschedule our lives around them if we want to fully take part in the game, you need better QA than this.

I can’t think of a single part of the weekend’s dynamic events that’s actually been enjoyable. I’ll still be playing on and off, but I’ll no longer recommend the game to my friends unless things seriously improve.

Fahd went missing on Yak’s Bend this morning too. His chest is still there with a marker over it, but it’s not possible to interact with it at all. This was before Phase 2, but it’s still stuck in that state at the moment. And of course, now phase 2 has begin, Levvi is gone from LA so it wouldn’t be possible to turn it in.

Should I upgrade my computer?

An upgrade would definitely help. Here’s some rough numbers from my upgrade that might help you decide.

I used to have the same CPU (Q9550) as you, but more RAM (8GB) and a substantially faster GPU (nVidia GTX 670) – though due to problems with my motherboard it was running in a 4x PCI-E slot. At max graphics settings in 1920×1200, I was getting around 40FPS, dipping to 25-30FPS. It was okay but not as smooth as I wanted. I knew my GPU should be able to do better than that, and I heard the game is very CPU-bound, so I upgraded my CPU to an Intel i7 3770, with 16GB 1866Mhz DDR3. Now I rarely get below 100FPS. (I did also upgrade from Windows 7 64-bit to Windows 8 64-bit but I doubt it’s a substantial factor)

So basically, it looks like your limiting factor right now is the GPU. A quick fix would be for example a GTX 550 ($120) or GTX 560 ($150), which should get you 40FPS if my experience is any guide.

But I suspect that any GPU faster than that would be wasted on GW2 (though probably not many other games) unless you also upgrade the CPU. And you already have pretty much the fastest consumer socket 775 chip there is, so you’d need a motherboard and RAM too.

If you can stretch to $600, you can upgrade to a current-gen medium-high end system – one of Micro Center’s hidden bundle deals will get you an i5 3570K, a Z77 motherboard, and 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 for $290. And $300 anywhere will get you a GTX 660 Ti (with a free copy or Borderlands 2 worth $60). You could hit 60FPS with something a bit cheaper but IMO these are the best bang for your buck right now and will last a while.
