Well, I put the 3D system together last night. It went smooth and was not difficult.
Today was tweaking day.
I hadn’t done any 3D in quite awhile, but I remembered it’s important to adjust convergence and depth if you want to optimize 3D performance.
The most important tweak was the convergence adjustment. Once I had that set I was able to adjust depth and convergence in tandem and maximize the 3D performance.
Once I finished…….frankly……..I was BLOWN AWAY, it looks REALLY good.
I has heard it was good but I had no idea it was that nice, wow. I can see now why their are people that rave about it.
I also need to mention that prior to tweaking the default ( out of box ) 3D settings I was not nearly as impressed. The depth default setting is 15 % ( which is nothing ) and the convergence setting is some sort of one size fits all ( or none ) that doesn’t begin to take advantage of what this system can do.
So, wow, If you try this, make sure you spend some time with your settings before you pass judgement.
Anyway, that’s my report Gents.
Oh ! Squishy….the setting that benefited my FPS performance the most was reducing supersampling ( which I normally use in 2D ) down to native sampling, I gained 20 FPS.
I have shadows on low, reflections on terrain and sky and LOD on medium. My other settings are a mixture of high and normal ( mostly high ), tweaking them up and down made little difference in FPS performance.
My average FPS was about 55 to 60 in the country side and 45 in the city. I definitely had significant stuttering in the city but I don’t spend much of my time there, so I wasn’t too concerned. I like to wander abroad and explore alot.
Hope that was helpful everyone

Thanks for the feedback everyone

I bought the Asus VG278H, should be here tomorrow. I got it for $ 380. It comes with the Nvidia glasses and the built in emitter. The one I purchased is used but it has been tested, has a 30 day refund/90 day warranty, and is from a major retailer. The more recent release is the Asus VG278HE which does not include the emitter or the glasses and costs about the same new.
@ locx
I think its gonna be ok. Most of the problems that the G-Sync monitor would have addressed are not major concerns with my current setup. Thanks for your concern though.
@ NeedCoffee
Lets hear it For Light Boost ! My monitor will have that also I am glad you are enjoying yours, I have read many positive reviews of the one I ended up buying also.
@ sobe again
Do you know if the Asus VG278H will accept the G-Sync kit ?
@ sirsquishy
You bet Squish, if I forget feel free to remind me
Once I get the Rig setup I plan to post back to this thread and share my overall experience with you guys.

Hello locx
I bought the monitor about 2 minutes before I saw your post, : O , no joke. Oh well the money was burning a hole in my pocket anyway, hehe.
I had heard a little about G-Sync from a relative, it sounds very promising. I will definitely keep my eyes open for that technology in the future. It will be interesting to see if their are any caveats when it is first released.

" Why not purchase a quality 27" 2560×1440 panel be it IPS or PLS? If you play GW2 and other MMOs you won’t need more than 60Hz/60FPS anyway.
Examples are Yamakasi Catleap, Achieva Shimian, Crossover 27Q, or a PLS such as the QNIX QX2710. The PLS panel offering near same image quality as an IPS along with viewing angles, but the ability to be overclocked on the stock PCB such as the older Catleap 2B panels that go for $1,000 to this day.
3D seems to be dying down as of late, and 1920×1080 is slowly dwindling with 2560×1440 being the current “norm” or “mainstream” panels after they took the market by storm with the Korean panels such as the Yamakasi, etc a few years ago. "
Hi Sobe
Yes, that is tempting, but I have used 3D before and I reeeeally liked it. It adds a whole new level of immersion when done properly.
I have an Ipad 3 and I surely appreciate the increased pixel density, it looks wonderful, but 3D seems to be more compelling for me right now
Thanks though, I appreciate your input and the fact that you took the time to post

Thanks for the response loseridoit.
I think I am going to go ahead and purchase a 3d monitor this week and give it a shot.
All the reviews I have read of 3d in this game seem quite good.

Hello Guild War 2 Friends
My CPU and GPU are both running stock ( not overclocked ).
I want to try Nvidia 3D Vision at 1920 × 1080 with the above mentioned setup. I am looking for good enough FPS to give me fluid movement.
What do you think ? Should I be able to achieve that ?

Ah ok I guess I got spoiled with my last game. I was doing a racing sim before ( iracing ) and it had the option to render each screen separately when using triples. This would give you side screens that were identical to the center screen in appearance.

Oh ! I don’t know if this is important or not but I am using an Nvidia GTX 680 graphics card.

Hello Everyone
I am using triple monitors and I was wondering if it’s possible to eliminate the side screen stretching I see in GW2 when running triples.
I would prefer the side screens to render the same as the center screen but I don’t know if this is possible.
Thank You for your help
