Who are we

Since 2006, The Dragoon Brotherhood has travelled the MMO world playing anything and everything. Although we have had many accomplishments, including dominating some games, truly our greatest accomplishment is building a community that values the person and not the character or what gear they wear.

While we maybe 8 years old and have all the experience to show for it, we still remain faithful to why we were established in the first place, and that’s being there for each other and working together without the elitism that goes with it.

Many guilds either don’t care who you are and leach your gold, or they are extremely elitist and demand impossible demands of newcomers. We are a cure for the modern guild, a place where what seems like an old school concept of an online family or gang, in the corrupt, and poorly lead guilds, is alive and kicking. You will not just chat, you will fight, laugh, spoof, challenge, compete, share, participate, and probably run naked at some point.

Our aim going forward

We are building a strong community even as you read this, and no matter what you’re experience, we pledge to support, and enrichen your experience ingame. Do not mistake this as a free pass for us to work for you however, we require participation on your part in return, a brotherhood is a brotherhood after all!

Our main aims are as follows:-

1) To maintain a strong community, where each member is valued for who they are.
2) To dominate every form of content the game offers.
3) To help newcomers grow, and challenge veterans to strengthen.

What can you expect??

- A Guild that values YOU, for who you are, not what gear you have.
- PvP as much as possible, from tournaments and events we host, to outright chaos! We aim for the best ratings possible!
- Runs of all instances possible, with fun, laughter and no drama.
- A tight-knit community void of bullkitten.
- Gamers that can kick serious butt, but have a good time laughing while doing so.
- Experienced Leadership
- Organization that has been honed over 8 years.
- Unique events that will keep you entertained.
- All forms of content, from PvE runs, to dedicated crafting.
- A populated forums, active vent, and welcoming community.

Sounds awesome! How do I join?

Joining couldn’t be simpler, simply follow these steps:-

1) Visit www.always-dragoons.net
2) Read through our Rules, and information found in the tabs at the top.
3) Click the Recruitment tab, and read through the application info.
4) Fill out our application form.
5) Await our response and prepare for a guild that values YOU!

Whatever your choice, thanks for reading our thread and we ask you really give us a try. Life is too short to make it so meaningless in dead, boring, non-talkative communities.

We all, deserve better.

Tournament of Legends

For those saying “they had to work so hard in PvE” I have little sympathy due to one simple fact.

If you’re good enough to win a tournament with a team may I add, then you have poured hundreds of thousands of hours together to be able to do so. You have had to build together, conquer challenges together and be able to defeat equally hard working teams.

When you think of it this way, grinding is nothing compared to the hard work and challenges associated with winning this tournament.

Stop being short sighted.

No thanks, why play a weaker combat system with weaker classes for a sub, when you can play this for free?

ESO is an embarrasing example of poor content at release, just like TORtanic, any game that states “re-roll” as content is a joke. It’s simply WvW with a small dash of PvE thrown in, games like this need to rot and stop being made. I am tired of lack of innovation, and poorly made games that we all know is just dead within a year.

A harsh statement, and I do wish the best for our genre here, but I feel games that don’t even really try just poison the genre as a whole. WS maybe yet another WoW clone, which is another problem altogether but at least SOME of their features bring some originality (or at least a return to modern times).

I feel Triple A Sandboxes will probably be the real future of MMORPGs (I hope so, I got into this genre for social virtual worlds, not basic lobby games, with a lack of need to communicate with the community).

Dueling in gw2! Remember?

Only in GW2 have I seen people against dueling the world. I don’t know if it’s because this game as a much more casual gamer that is afraid of any form of combat or what, but dueling in the world doesn’t hurt you.

I love dueling as I level, meeting in different areas of the world and dueling others. It’s awesome hosting tourneys in one zone, then next week another and so on, it’s nice to meet others and get some friendly duels going, sure give players an auto-decline if that helps, but a feature that encourages players to come together in the world, socialize and have fun, and players are against it? Go back to single player games with their boring static NPCs, some of us want our world to have spontanious gatherings, whether that’s dueling or even hang outs.

I agree with has been said, it’s shocking in 2014 we don’t have dueling, especially in a game that has been out since 2012. Even just dropping a dueling map would be awesome if that’s all that can be done with spectators.

Oh, and Anet, anyone who states dueling is pointless because of PvE gear doesn’t know what they are talking about, and don’t recognize what dueling is all about. Hate to break it to you Casuals.

Who are we?

Since 2006 The Dragoon Brotherhood has travelled MMOs bringing their own form of mischief and mayhem and having as much fun as we possibly can. Within this guild every member is valued for who they are, and we aim to use that to achieve everything we possibly can.

We enjoy all forms of content, from chasing down enemies in WvW to flaunting our hard won gear from Instances, so there is something for everyone.

Put simply, if you’re not a kitten , who doesn’t mind actually, you know, talking to people, then you will fit right in. We accept all ability levels, and classes, what’s important is that you know how to hang!

What are we about?

When it comes down to it, we will not be as smooth and polished with huge numbers like some other guilds, devoid of any real soul, no matter how much they talk. We will not be the very tiny guild, bragging about how much it will achieve without anything to back it up.

Our Guild has heart and soul, it has a real character…. a crazy, weird, sometimes perverted character. When our members achieve something we throw parties to celebrate, we throw events to cheer every single anniversary of every single member, where all pitch in. On the battlefield we train our newcomers to be deadly warriors, and we challenge our greatest to become legends. Before of course having “pride duels” because a member called someone else “fat”.

If you are looking for a long term home, that is full of heart, respect, and friendship, then look no further. Join us today, and be part of a new legacy here in Guild Wars 2, fight, train, die, and win, as a team. We are completely nuts, but at least every evening is great fun

What can you expect?

  • A Guild that values YOU, for who you are, not what gear you have.

  • Unique events that will keep you entertained.
  • All forms of content, from PvE runs, to dedicated crafting.
  • A populated forums, active vent, and welcoming community.

Sounds awesome right? How do you join?

Please note that The Dragoon Brotherhood is not a casual heaven. Although we are open to accepting all types of players, if you can’t play more than 10 hours per week, then you will not be suitable.

Joining couldn’t be simpler, simply follow these steps:-

1) Visit www.always-dragoons.com

?????

Above all things we are just a bunch of gamers that like to have a good time and play hard. We are not huge, instead favouring quality over quantity, and we are not for all, but there are members that have been here for years and have frequently say there is nothing like us.

Above all we are hoping to make GW2 a home for the future where we can thrive within a strong family.

Is this game popular?

please ignore the first respond. It is well known that Blizzard is giving monthly access away for those spreading misinformation here.

Oh dear, let’s get out our tin foil hats. What a ridiculous statement but allow me to point out some reasons why your logic is flawed.

1) GW2 is NOT competition for WoW, I know when playing it’s easy to develop loyalty for a game, but accept that this game doesn’t even come close to making WoW sweat, so why on earth would they pay people to spout rubbish about this game?

2) Perhaps the biggest point, every game has a horde of fan boys, and an even bigger horde of complainers. In my experience, most people on the forums are complaining because they are often the self entitled niche of a community that has become disenfranchised with the game. The positive players that are loving the game, are largely just playing it. Only 1 in 20 probably visit these forums.

That said, with complainers, whiners and trolls on every single game including this one, why on earth would they invest in the need to get people to complain about it? Are you really that deluded in believing this game is THAT good? (No game is).

3) Finally, I doubt you have a shred of evidence to support your claim, nor any common sense to truly think this through logically. Anyone who comes to such conclusions which is so out there probably disregards everything as a conspiracy anyways, and should probably step away from the computer and step outside for more than 5 minutes every once and a while.

Oh, and no I don’t work for WoW, or any video game company, I’m not that lucky.

Maybe sometimes people are just trolling/ or just plain dumb, in my experience one should never underestimate humanities capacity for stupidity.

Challenge them to a duel and beat them. Maybe it doesn’t prove you are a good “team player”, but it will certainly hurt their ego/make them suddenly go quiet.

Be comfortable with what you have and become a Master. I do laugh at noob geared great sword warriors, but I’ve met some strong Warriors played well (I like GS/LB spec for tPvP).

Only the mentally challenged forms pugs then complains about class choice. The whole contradiction of these actions makes a part of the moon collaspse.

Tournaments

in PvP

Posted by: Hidden.3975

Hidden.3975

Dear Pug Players,

The problem isn’t the system, it’s the players.

For me I consider sPvP my arcade game in GW2, I can maybe test some builds (not greatly), and can have some relaxed playtime without caring. If I want to TPvP however, that’s where I get my team together and face strong competition, that is, after all, the point.

Players can’t seem to understand that for pre-made 5v5 teams, this is as good as it gets for us, and honestly… Why do people even pug for tournaments?

It’s designed with rating in mind, it’s designed for teams to duke it out, so why do players insist on attending as Pugs?

You don’t want to get rolled in Tournament PvP? Just please stop crying and go kitten kitten in the middle in your sPvP games. Make some friends (that’s what you do in MMOs), form a team, and then play.

If you insist on playing a heavy co-ordinated team game with complete randoms, then please at least, stop crying your eyes out like you really expected any different result.

Casual Pugs and gamers can play sPvP, leave tPvP to the teams and organized players more interested in competition.

That’s not an insult, that’s the way the game is formed. It’s like PvE, if you don’t want to learn boss tactics that’s fine, but don’t complain if you cannot be successful in Raiding (talking other MMOs here).

Why is tournament PvP being overlooked?

in PvP

Posted by: Hidden.3975

Hidden.3975

So it seems 8 team tournaments have been disabled, I can honestly understand that logic, given how few teams sign up for it, but on the other hand, what really is now the greatest award in GW2 PvP?

Rather than break into the issues with WvW, I shall just talk about SPvP and TPvP in particular. Right now for a competitive, arena type player the ultimate achievement is winning one singular match against Pugs/Pre-mades. One can argue that earning the gear and weapon skins is also a sense of progression and I enjoy this system, but it’s not something that say a Guild or a Team can push for. As a member of a guild that wins quite a few tournaments, but loses sometimes too, winning a singular match is hardly a great “honour” when you have done it once, let alone multiple times as quite a few players have. When it comes to WvW we are seeing several patches coming their way, and that’s great for the weekend warriors, but for those who enjoy the equalized, meta, 5 v 5 against actual talented teams, even more so now we are losing any purpose in this game.

I know that many sitting here will probably be thinking “Hurr Durr this game was never going to be good for TPvP”, but personally I see great potential in this game. From how deep classes are with new builds and setups still being discovered even now, to how well the combat system works, I really want to see this game shine for all competitive PvP’ers. What happened to the Monthly and Year Grand Tournaments that were spoken of? Why is that board in the Heart of the Mists, AT THE VERY LEAST, not updated with the best champions of the week say? All these things that could have been, don’t exist, and it’s frankly very dissapointing for someone who really is tired with this game except for the great combat itself.

When we look at games like WoW (How I deplore using it as an example), top arena players recieve additional awards, skins and what not. Now I love that GW2 is all equalized stat wise, but why can’t we have seasons with the top players earning legendary skins? Why can we not do something like APB and have “Points Weekends” or “Tournament Wins Weekends”, where winning or earning so many points equal special one time awards, such as legendary skins.

Right now PvP needs a true incentitive, guilds, social communities are struggling because although we have these random bounty missions, there are no defintive content to work for and master. What true honour can a PvP’er really achieve? What grand bragging rights can one have over another when everyone and their aunt wins single match tournaments? What is the point in actually learning to play in this game if it’s doctored for the care-bear weekend PvP’ers that complain their 100b Warriors can’t hit the enemy?

Personally this game has some great features, the combat is right, no matter what most under level 30s say, the classes are indepth and far more balanced than most other MMOs (Okay maybe Engi has taken a bit too strong of a knock hehe), and the skill ceiling is very high which is fantastic personally as growth to a level to compete with the best players/teams is very rewarding. It has all the tools, it has all the basics, so now ANET please build upon a section of gaming that was RED HOT before release, and is crying out for attention.

If I was the game director I would do several things:-

- Bring back 8-Team tournaments and make the rewards VERY VIABLE, personally I would get rid of 2-Team altogether.
- If not, then do as was recommended in another thread, and have an 8-Team weekend with 2-Team disabled, and award the best teams with some great legendary skins.
- Bring out the Monthly/Yearly tournament idea, immediately there is a great reward in DEDICATION. You can even combine it with my last point.
- Bring in private servers/dueling already :p

There needs to be an incentive, there needs to be an award. I always think of arena PvP like Gladiator PvP. In the arena the greatest honour was becoming known throughout the land, it was conquering the best, and it would be great for the game, for guilds, for PvP’ers in general, that there was something to push for.

It would be great to have talk of how Team A won the Yearly tournament, it would be great to have live streams back again with the high end PvP’ers.

That’s my two cents anyway, I don’t post alot but the deletion of 8 team tournaments drove me out.

Rin has been promoted to the Recruiter for Dorek’s crew, War Pigs.

Rin has set an impressive start to her life in the Dragoons. From having a great personality, to building a strong relationship with the members of the Dragoons she has really shown a great promise. He is thoughtful, considering, and has a great sense of humour, and with this in mind, Rin was promoted to Recruiter, which is incredibly fast considering her short time in the Dragoons.

So, going forward, congratulations Rin, keep up the good work, and good luck with recruitment!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many members do you have?

Enough to be happy, we are not huge, but we are not tiny either. We are very particular about our size, and do not want to swamp our vent with too many people. We have as many as we can handle at that current time. Right now, we can handle more people due to having more crews, which is how we organize our community.

More crews = More people, we have six crews.

How old are your members?

Generally in our 20s currently, some over, some below. We have working professionals, students, men and women, there is something for everyone.

Are you hardcore?

No, but we are not casual. We see our members everyday the majority of the time, and some due to real life can’t be on everyday. If you are online most days, then that’s okay, if we rarely see you we wont form bonds with you, and you will not suit us.

You rejected me even though I love teaming in PvP… why?

We are looking for people that do enjoy teamwork, but teamwork is not friendship. They maybe linked but at the end of the day if you just want to communicate and team up in PvP, and then not speak once outside of it we aren’t for you. Friendship comes first, socializing, communicating, and generally being an easy going member willing to talk with us, you’ll be welcomed. If your chief focus is PvP at all costs, you’re not welcome.

You guys sure are brash.

We know, and that’s the way we like it. This is a controversial issue for some people, but we make no rules on outsiders. Fact is we don’t like other guilds, we don’t care about this using culture in MMOs, and if anything we want to destroy this culture.

We do however value our members deeply, many stay for many years. For as much as we give out, we give 10 times more good to within.

Do not mistake us though, we are not staples of our community, we are organized, we are internally strong, and have very good, level-headed members, but we are not, and will never be, one of you.

The Dragoon Brotherhood

Time Zone – EU
Server:- Ruins of Surmia
Focus:- Building a strong community, PvP among all forms of content.

Looking at the MMO industry it’s easy to point out problems with it. Some say World of Warcraft brought a lazier style to content, others say that rival companies obsess too much with creating a WoW clone. People point features, gamers, and all sorts of things that are bad for the current genre.

For us? The problem lies right here in this very section, Guilds. Looking at the Guilds of today we have become dis-illusioned, angry, and even disgusted by what we see. Now these are strong words but we whole-heartedly stand by our assessment.

The truth is, in a modern guild, it’s all about using people, it’s all about what gear the recruit has, or what ability level they are at. They don’t care who you are, or what you can do, they just use you until you can either be replaced, or you don’t keep up.

The same applies to the recruits themselves of course. People don’t join to make friends, they join to use people, they join for perks, and for progress. Now don’t get me wrong, we in the Dragoons all get something out of being here, we all progress, and we all succeed, but unlike these players, unlike these guilds, we put friendship first.

In the Dragoons we value YOU, we put YOU, and friendship first. We work together, we grow together, and build upon our already exceptional community that has lasted now for over six years.

Our mentality has guarenteed us success through the years, and we intend to continue it in Guild Wars 2.

  • Unlike the majority of modern guilds, we value you for your personality, and not your ability or gear.
  • We believe in training together, gaining experience as one, not selecting based on elitist presumptions.
  • Be part of a forums with active members posting well over 20,000 messages.
  • The atmosphere in the Dragoons is laid back and easy going. We consider ourselves a group of friends who enjoy playing games together.
  • Although we don’t believe in defining by age, our members are “big boys and girls” that wont be insulted at every little sigh.
  • We are unlike any guild you have been apart of, we are not just a guild, we are family. We will not be for everyone.
  • We have retained members for many years, from all over the world. Everyone is unique and important to us!

Our Aim

We have three primary aims within the Dragoons.

1) We aim to build a strong community, and value friendship above all things.

As we said earlier we aren’t your normal community. We are here to value YOU, and each other, we are here to work together, and to continue to create a unique, long term guild. Guild Leaders watch their guilds die everyday, we have lasted six years, something very few guilds have done, and that is because we don’t care about your character, we care about YOU.

2) We aim to dominate all forms of PvP

We define PvP in the Dragoons, whether it’s WvW or sPvP, we have something for everyone. We have a massive dedicated PvP department that includes training, scouting, events, and organized sessions. Friendship and teamwork are just words, it is in PvP we demonstrate why we are unlike anything else.

3) We aim to play all forms of content

We maybe huge PvP’ers but we do enjoy MMOs on the whole. So if you like instances, if you like crafting, or jumping in the snow, then we will fit you. If the first aim is what sings to you, then we will be for you.

Are you ready to join The Dragoon Brotherhood?

If you are not serious about devoting your time to what we are seeking then please do not apply. Also if you are here just to use us for PvP success, and not care about friendship, go take a walk, we aren’t for you.

Everyone is eligible to apply, but please bear in mind we take into consideration everyone seriously and are not afraid to say no.

Visit our direct recruitment page here!

After posting an application we will get back to you within 24 hours, please feel free to ask any additional recruitment questions here.

Please note, although we accept members from all over the world, the majority of events happen in European times. Also ventrilo is required 100% of your time ingame, members unwilling to be on ventrilo are removed.

On a final note…

If this sounds interesting and you would like to join us then you can contact us in a number of ways:-

Our homepage:- www.forever-dragoons.com
Official Forums:- www.alwaysdragoons.com
And of course feel free to PM me.

Everything we said about friendship being the most important thing is bang on, if you just joining because we look organized and don’t care about the community, we wont be for you.

On the whole however, thanks alot, we appreciate it.
