I think I left about the time ESO came out. Downloaded and installed the game last night and was able to log in.
Feel a little overwhelmed and not sure where to begin. I’ve got 11 lvl 80 characters with my main Guardian in all pink (ascended?) gear. I am wvw rank 565 and have at least one toon with max crafting of all disciplines available 2 years ago (are there new ones?).
Guess my questions start with Hero points and what to spend them on (have 254 unspent). And what I should be doing to “catch up”? I don’t have the expansion yet as I am waiting to see if I want to buy it.
What are the biggest changes in the past 2 years? What would be the best place to re-engage in the game?
Simple (not necessarily to implement) fix to anti-personnel siege (AC’s and to a much lesser extend Ballista’s):
1. Establish a “siege zone” for every tower/keep/garrison/stonemist that encompasses the structure and extends approximately 1000 range from the walls.
1a. Within a siege zone you can have a maximum of 3 same siege within 2500 range of each other.
1b. Outside siege zones you can have a maximum of 1 same siege within 3000 range.
2. Siege zone rules do not apply to catapults, flame rams, golems, or trebuchets.
3. Allow players to repair cannons and mortars prior to being destroyed (give option to Use or Repair).
Why does every single post that has even a secondary or tertiary reference to WvW population/coverage end up having to degenerate into an “OMG we are the underdog” forum fight between BG, JQ, and SoR?
OP – If you willingly choose to go to BG/JQ/SoR I hope Cthulhu eats your soul. Otherwise I’d suggest picking between TC, FA, SoS, Mag, or SBI. Should be enough population and coverage to support both ppt-lovers and open field fighters.

If you are so keen on fighting Mag NA guilds why have I never heard of you offering to do so in our timeslot instead of yours??? I’m sure if you ask for GvG’s starting at 10pm EST (I believe that is 3am GMT) that you’d have multiple Mag guilds clamoring to take you up on your offer (PYRO, VR, ARK, and possibly TG, KH, AoN, or WCS).
Otherwise you are free to stop spouting off. Mag has the worst guild organized OCX/SEA/EU coverage of any server in the top 7 or 8 rankings. When you see Mag on during those times it is almost always insomniac roamers or sleep-deprived / class cutting college students.
I was going to complain about all the FA and TC uplevels tonight but I realized that after salvaging all the armor and opening all the odd assortment of bags I got 63 Linen scraps…
Fun hour long fight against SBI and Yaks (intermittently) in SM tonight. SBI eventually won the war of attrition, but later lost SM. Most of us in PYRO talled up between 500 and 700 kills (personal tally of just over 600… no exotics tho, you guys drop junk).

In the future please give us time to sell/salvage. Trying to salvage while fighting can be very difficult.
I fought an oPP thief last night on Mag BL he hit like a wet noodle and then stealthed away. Couldn’t be bothered to chase him. I know all your blobs run PVT gear but do your roamings groups run PVT aswell?

Also no, most of us run a balanced build that isn’t maxdeeps nor tank.
I hope by balanced builds you aren’t referring to the 4 different perplexity Thiefs, 3 different perplexity Engineers, 3 mace/shield stun warriors, and GASP one non-cheese D/D Ele (who beat my bottom, well done) that I have run into the entire day on 3 different BL maps. To be fair and honest, I didn’t check the class makeup of the 8-10 man buhtlust “roaming” groups, I just avoided them.
Great fights in Mag BL right now between Garrison and WK… Please get the cowards off the cannons and mortars WK defenders, we are not attacking the keep.
I’m sorry to hear that, despite your massive coverage advantage over similarly-tiered servers and blatant cheating/point inflation scheme with SoR you weren’t able to take advantage of your best-case-scenario match up against SoR and obtain a Gold League/Varsity position.
However, I’d like to congratulate you on the wonderful consolation prizes you have won with your JV placement!
1) A massive influx of even more bandwagoners and fairweathers!
2) Endless hours of 24/7 PvD fun!
3) Loss of those rare and pesky “skilled” SBI players who will be transferring to a server that offers greater competition!

Incorrect. Core was out in CD BL last night with a bare minimum of 20-25 along with several other FA guilds running similarly sized groups (sometimes all at once, sometimes separately). Core didn’t really have much impact because PYRO had 25 on map for Maguuma and was grudgingly playing PPT defense for WK/EK.
Ehmry Bay would be a really nice option for you guys! We are a T 4 server and a lot of our match ups are very very balanced. We get a lot of great fights and we as a server have a lot of fun working together. The only drama we really have on our server is within guilds. And when there is a drama we make sure our guilds stay out of it. But again you do have to remember there will always be a troll and drama. Every server has it. Ehmry Bay is home to 3 big guilds that have been on the server seance the beginning. PK, FTF, and GH. We all work very well together and get along very well. We are always there to help each other and assist one another in battle. We are also welcoming to new guilds! We do have a lot of medium sized guilds and small guilds too! And we do have a server ts3! All the guilds use the ts3 and we could set you up! Please, feel free to MSG me in game. For [PYRO], the only form of acceptable open field siege is the Flame Ram.
On numerous occasions I’ve seen Paralda command PYRO to move from more advantageous open field positions to worse ones because somebody following his tag dropped an open field AC.
FA – Enjoyed the fight in FABL late last night (NA time). Regardless of the open field siege between Garrison and WK.
Kudo’s to the brilliant tactician who dazzled #magswag with the festive golems, you coerced us to run for you so we could dance with them (sorry the pubbies killed them) only to push and nearly wipe us while we were enamored with the shineys!
We pulled every trick we could think of out of the hat to counter you guys… was a fun 2.5 hour (approx) defense of WK and surrounding area.
Mag will give out some good NA timezone fight, but we simply have no way to counter the SEA capabilities of DB. Over/under for DB SEA primetime maxing out ppt is 3.5.
