Steam is already up in linux, talking to u now from Linux Mint.
Given that it is still in beta but I think this shows that big companies have some faith in linux.
I know the road is full of doubts for ArenaNet, thus I would think if they put just a little more effort in making the game more Wine-Compatible like GW1 it should be a great middle ground for them.
Some might argue that Valve’s release of linux port of steam is because they intend to make their own steam-based console running linux, but that is not a bad idea afterall.
But generally speaking, add valve’s support to linux in addition to some issues of windows 8 with games and u get a good incentive to port your games into linux

That is good news I’ll get it too. I’m using Ubuntu my self. I was also wondering, if GW2 works on MAC through wine like Nitro.4732 said wouldn’t it just work on linux as is?

With only 1% marketshare for linux OS, I doubt Anet will put resources into making a beta anytime soon. Plus Mac beta isn’t done. Even WoW doesn’t have linux client yet, but I heard they built one just didn’t release.

I’m not sure where you get this 1% information. Maybe for gaming it is true because almost no modern game is supporting Linux.

Some games like Heroes of Newerth are already supporting Linux, Windows and Mac and I’ve seen some stuff about steam going to Ubuntu. Perhaps getting ahead of this “OS revoltion” might not be such a bad idea.

I would like GuildWars to get a Linux client since I would love to combine my favorite game with my favorite OS.
