Suggestion: Save Options per character

On that basis, I agree with starlinvf: it’s easier to get 3rd party software to manage keyboard & mouse shortcuts. It won’t swap automatically with characters, but I get to decide what profiles are used when. I get to manage them without having to be on that character.

With my suggestion you could still do that, and don’t have to change anything for you, because you just don’t check the box. If it is easier for you, to use 3rd party products, good for you. I get the feeling you didn’t really read what I suggested and just read the title and the answers. Nobody would be forced to use the option. I even have a keyboard capable of profiles, but if I decided to take a break from gw2 and come back later ingame it would say I have to press F2 for a skill, even though my profile would require me to use another key, so I had to spend an hour again to learn my keybindings by reading them outside of the game.

Still, I appreciate everyone writing in this thread, thank you for your time

@starlinvf you mean the 21st century, where convenience is “paid dlc”?

Disclaimer: Since my title was too long: not all Options, just keybindings

As a player who likes to play all classes and wants to play them well I find it really hard to find the perfect keybinding-layout that fits all classes. For example on my Engineer I always wanted to bind my F-skills (F1-F4) to the corresponding utility-skill with a modifier (e.g. heal on R, F1 on Ctrl+R), however I could never imagine to attune to the different elements like this on my elementalist. Just like this, on my thief I need F1 and F2 on easily reachable keys, while on the ranger I seldom use F2, since I only play him in situations where I actually want my pet to do damage, so I would bind it to a key farther away from my essential skills.

These examples are just a few of the reasons why I want to be able to save my keybindings on my character and not my account.

However, before you go into the comments and type “No, I don’t care about you. I don’t want to have to take time to do my keybindings on every character”, please consider reading my suggestion.

So my solution for this problem is a checkmark-option in the gameplay options which reads: “Save keybindings on character only”. This way players who don’t find it necessary or don’t want to have different keybindings for different characters could just leave it unchecked and do not have to worry about anything, because everything stays the same for you. Players who DO want this option check it and can have their keybindings separate and everyone is happy. These players should be willing to change all their keybindings on each character, so this option could even reset all keybindings on other characters, if need be. I know this is possible, because I know games that have done this before.

I hope this post reaches the right people and this will be brought to the game. To everyone who read this, thank you for your time, I know I am not alone with this. Feel free to discuss further possibilities, since if you want something additional to this, your opinion is important to me and I hope it is important to a.net aswell.
