Dang, I should have stayed in the BDlands more often this week… Going to miss them, however short the period they’re gone will be.

Death to the one we all hate >:D

After the Battle with Zhaitan aboard one airship out of dozens of others filled with commander teams, I think understand what the devs were going for. It was a pretty awe-inspiring moment to realise that you were part of something huge taking place. The ending was still a little anti-climatic, but the atmosphere was there.

I started off neutral with Trahearne, not greatly attached to my mentor from the Priory though my eyes did get teary, corny a death as it was. He and my human had a common goal, and I was interested in how his own story was developing alongside mine.

Written-wise glaring flaws started after around ‘Forging the Pact’ and I can only narrow it down to poor attention paid to the whole process, not to mention the game-play and presentation not complementing each other well enough.

Whatever was going on, Trahearne does encourage you continuously and has unwavering faith in you.

I felt sad after talking to him at the World Council in The Grove (never played Season 1) and seeing that he has distanced himself from you (or you from him). You don’t deserve to be second-in-command of the Pact at that point, because you really have no say in how it is being run or even know what is going on with it. Even when going after Zhaitan options are being presented to your character, you are not actually coming up with anything that hasn’t gone through channels like the Priory/Vigil/Whisper/Trahearne first; you’re just the one chosen to command.

To relate more to the OP, I don’t hate any character I’ve seen here, but I’m tired of my current ‘De2 cohort’, Braham excepted.

My Greatest Fear Plotline

I just wanted to provide an update since it’s been a while.

  • We are currently working to restore the Greatest Fear storyline to the live game. I can’t provide a release date at this point.
  • In addition to restoring the Personal Story steps to their original order we’re making some minor improvements where possible (e.g. recording new VO or updating certain conversations, etc.).

We’ll provide additional details closer to release. Thanks much for your patience.

Thanks for the heads up!

I’m keeping my next character on standby before I play through the Personal Story the second time. Imo the Personal Story is more important than the Living Story is, for new players.

Trahearne wrote a new speech?

New speech or not, I demand his head on a pike outside of black citadel.

As a charr player (and fan) who likes marshal T, I object to this!!.

^this, from a human player (and slowly becoming gw2 addicted….)

The original speech was more epic. Seems like they wanted the new one to sound more neutrally inclusive, but it’s less inspiring on paper. Thanks OP for sharing the version some of us never got to see.

Another way for Star of Gratitude ?

Would love it if Anet were to find a way to bring this item back as well, because the amount of stars I’ve accumulated over just a few days is rather worrisome. It’s possible to refine them into empyreal stars but that takes up obsidian shards which I’d rather not use for the purpose.

Replacing Trahearne

Don’t kill Trahearne.

Really, please don’t, it would be the biggest disappointment of my experience with the storyline so far.

Personally I want to see him make a comeback with the Pact from the disaster of the airship wipe. Though with the Sylvari and Mordremoth situation that might make it very difficult.
