For what I’ve discussed with support, there’s a problem with how our ISP’s are routing our connections to the GW servers.
There seems to be a hop in dallas thats loosing packets like crazy. This hop is on the way to the GW servers but its not Anet’s. Its not, however, our ISP’s either. This is most likely also the reason why people dont have lag while using a 3rd party “ping preventing”solution, since it probably just proxies the connection through their servers bypassing dalla’s hop.
So you see, this problem falls in a somewhat gray area where ANET is not responsible, our ISP is “technically” not responsible (its not really their server) and we don’t get to play the game we payed for…
Now, even though the ISP is not responsible per se, IT IS their responsibility to properly route our data packages. So what we can do, is call our ISP’s, explain them the situation and see if they can either contact that dalla’s datacenter or route our connections differently.
The problem with this method in Argentina at least, is that our customer support is comprised of little more than trained monkeys, so again, ANET’s help here would be GREATLY appreciated.
tl.dr: There’s a hop in dallas kittening with our connection, we have to call our ISP’s and have them contact that datacenter to get it fixed.

At this point its clear that ANET is not going to further pursue this. I for one dislike paying for games that I cannot play.
My recommendation is for everyone to re-open their tickets with support and have them explain as best as they can where are our ISP’s going wrong.
If they insist its their fault, the least we can do is try to understand why are they saying this and flood our ISP’s with valid-fact based complaints until they either fix this or provide a reasonable explanation as to why its not their fault.
Well..this is discouraging…our ISP’s simply wont acknowledge there’s a problem on their end…
So this is basically another event we’ll be missing out on…I hope they give us something when this is fixed…if its ever fixed…
Well…the new patch hasnt fixed anything…this is really sad as I would really love to play the game I payed for…

What’s your region?
I’ve seem lots and lots of people from South America logging into Baruch Bay [SP], which is in Europe.
They should be getting better latency from a NA world.
It’s a widespread problem that affects several regions with (seemingly) latin america getting the worst of it.
The reason this appears to be bound to a specific set of servers is simply because latin communities are somewhat based on those servers.
A large portion of argentinian players play on Sorrow’s Furnace, as the biggest argentinian guild (afaik) plays there.
Wanted to add my voice to this:
Server: Sorrow’s Furnace
ISP: Fibertel
GA and/or Network Diagnostic report: attached
Times that you’re experiencing this issue: 24/7 since dragon bash, I’ve yet to see a time where I’m not lagging massively.
I did contact my ISP as I do believe its on their end, but as usual the guys picking up the phone are not really technical people so the answer’s always going to be “we cant guarantee connection speed” or some other lie…
I do want to point out that league of legends LAS server (the latin american server) was (or is) also having problems very recently in argentina and it was indeed the ISP’s fault.
Now, I now Anet has no obligation to get involved in our local ISP’s issues, but it would be a tremendous act of goodwill on their part if they could take a bit of their time to research and maybe get in touch with the latin american NOC’s to try and find a solution.
Here’s hoping we can get this solved as quickly as possible.
cheers!

Hello again everyone!
I recently resumed playing GW2 and got some of my friends to join back as well. I’ve been gone for a while (almost a year) and the game has changed a lot.
Our focus (me and my friends) will be on pve and dungeons until we can get some decent gear.
I’m the only necro on the party and seeing as things changed A LOT, I’m looking for advice on builds that focus on PVE/dungeons and take advantage of the necro buffs as well as advice on what gear I need for said builds.
Currently I run an outdated power/pres build with dagger/focus – staff with zhed armor (complete set).
I have 3 pieces of grent gear (chest, head, legs) and enough ascalonian tears to complete the set for a conditions build (I also have a scepter).
Thanks in advance to anyone that replies!
Hello everyone!:
I stopped playing the game right after the lost shores event and now I’m coming back to check things out.
Few things I want to ask since I’ve been completely out of touch from the game:
How are necros now (balance)? (I left a lvl 80 necro with full exotics)
Are some of our bugs fixed?
What are the popular builds / gear now?
I’ve been gone for a while, so I’m sure my gear is painfully outdated; are there new ways to get gear? or I still have to grind the shards (I left at shard lvl 3 so I dont think thats an option anymore :S)?
Thanks a lot to all my fellow necromancers that answer!!
ok honestly as long as you looted the chest you won….the minimum you could get out of it is 30g worth of items..the max is 200g or so…if everyone got it it’d ruin the market as well so the random factor has to be there. What upsets me is that some of us didnt get to do it at all and some did it over 3 times, ruining the market ultimately.
I got at most, 4G out of all the loot…(no, I wasnt upscaled). I’m not complaining ’cos I at least got to finish the event, but the rewards where incredibly disproportionate.
Agree on everything else.
They should allow you to rejoin until they can sort out this mess…
